The Elongate dory (Zenion leptolepis) is a dory, in the genus Zenion, found around South Africa, southern Australia, and New Zealand, over the continental shelf at depths of between 350 and 700 metres. Its length is between 10 and 16 centimetres.
The Elongate dory is a small slender fish, with disproportionately large eyes which take up most of the space between the snout and the operculum, and are one fifth of the fishes entire length. Its fins are moderately sized, the first dorsal fin having strong black-tipped spines but not great length as in the John Dory.
The body is silvery with a red sheen. They are an uncommon species.
