Theodore Katsanevas (Template:Lang-el, born Athens, 1947) is a Greek academic[1] and founder in May 2013 of the political party Drachmi Greek Democratic Movement Five Stars,[2] which campaigns for Greece to abandon the Euro and to return to the drachma.[3][4]

He was a Member of the Greek Parliament between 1989-2004[5] for the Panhellenic Socialist Movement (PA.SO.K).[2]

He obtained an MA from the University of Warwick and a PhD from the London School of Economics. He is Professor of Labour Economics at the University of Piraeus.[5]

In 1981 he was among the authors of the program for the First Cabinet of Andreas Papandreou and he was first appointed to the Manpower Employment Organisation (OAED, Οργανισμός Απασχόλησης Εργατικού Δυναμικού; Ο.Α.Ε.Δ.), then in 1985 to the the welfare state agency. He was elected deputy in the second electoral district of Athens with PASOK from 1989 till 2004, when he was officially restricted from standing as a candidate by the party itself.[6]

Until their divorce in 2000, he was married to Sophia, the daughter of Andreas Papandreou, former Prime Minister of Greece.[2][7] In his will, as publicly disclosed in 13 September 1996, Papandreou defined Katsanevas a "disgrace to the family" (Template:Lang-el)[8][2][7][9][10][11][12][13] and said that "his aim was to politically inherit the history of struggle of Georgios Papandreou and Andreas Papandreou"[14][15][16][17] (Georgios Papandreou was Andreas' father and was also a Greek Prime Minister).

Theodore Katsanevas disputes the authenticity of the will[16] and in 2003 won a defamation trial against Spyros Karatzaferis, publisher of a newspaper which for some time in 1998 featured, every day in front page, a photograph of Katsanevas subtitled "Disgrace"; the judgement in the case does not, however, deal with the authenticity of the will.[18]

As a result of this matter being described in the Greek Wikipedia, Katsanevas brought a lawsuit against a Greek Wikipedia user and administrator ("Diu") and The Greek Free / Open Source Software Society ("GFOSS", aka "ELLAK"), although neither have any control over that Wikipedia.[1][2]
