Casting and Development

Priyanka Chopra is playing the role of Mary Kom.[12] Priyanka Chopra visited Kom's hometown in Manipur as a familiarization to learn more about the life of Mary Kom. During the visit Mary Kom shared her views with Priyanka Chopra and she stated "When she came to Manipur, she knew about boxing so I gave her tips as a mother and a wife, how I went about managing my home and profession, how I live with my family — basically she got to know aspects about my family life." [13]

Chopra also had to go through an extensive training schedule for the role of a boxer for 10 days before the shoot. She suffered an injury while shooting for the film which the make up team used and enhanced. [14] Film is scheduled to release in two versions one for Indian audience and another for International audience.[15]

Filming

The filming was postponed when Chopra's father died; it resumed on 17 June 2013 at Filmistan in Mumbai.[16] Second schedule for filming the movie was for 45 days, from 28 February to 15 April 2014.[14] The film is said[who?] to have filmed real life boxers to make all scenes realistic and authentic as possible.[17]
