Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests

The discussion process is used for potentially controversial moves. If any of the following apply to a desired move, treat it as potentially controversial:

• There is an existing article (not just a redirect) at the target title
• There has been any past debate about the best title for the page
• Someone could reasonably disagree with the move.

If a desired move is uncontroversial and technical in nature (e.g. spelling), please feel free to move the page yourself. If the page has recently been moved without discussion, you may revert the move and initiate a discussion on its talk page. In either case, if you are unable to complete the move, request it below.

• To list a technical request add the following code at the top of the sub-section Uncontroversial technical requests below:

This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Do not edit the article's talk page.

• If you object to a proposal listed in Uncontroversial technical requests, please move it to the Contested technical requests section below.

• If your technical request is contested by another editor, remove the request from the Contested technical requests section and follow the instructions at Requesting controversial and potentially controversial moves.

• Alternatively, if the only obstacle to an uncontroversial move is another page in the way, you can request the other page be deleted. This may apply, for example, if the other page is currently a redirect to the article to be moved, a redirect with no incoming links, or an unnecessary disambiguation page with a minor edit history. To request the other page be deleted, add the following code to the top of the page that is in the way:

Uncontroversial technical requests

• Dan Sullivan (Alaska politician, born 1964) → Dan Sullivan (politician, born 1964) (move) (discuss) – Page was originally at "Dan Sullivan (politician, born 1964)" but after he was elected to the U.S. Senate, the page was moved to all sorts of inappropriate titles like "Dan Sullivan (senator)" and "Dan Sullivan (United States Senator, R-AK)". The page was then moved to "Dan Sullivan (Alaska politician, born 1964)". The qualifier "Alaska" is unnecessary as the other American politician called Dan Sullivan, Dan Sullivan (politician, born 1951), is also from Alaska. The qualifier "politician" is necessary because there are lots of other Dan Sullivans. I went into some detail about this on the Talk:Dan Sullivan (Alaska politician, born 1964) talk page, but nobody read it before they started moving the page. – Tiller54 (talk) 14:44, 16 November 2014 (UTC)

• William Pooley (Ebola Paitent) → William Pooley (Ebola patient) (move) (discuss) – Incorrect spelling/Caps of word patient. requested page exists as a redirect to Ebola Outbreak – IdreamofJeanie (talk) 14:04, 16 November 2014 (UTC)

Requests to revert undiscussed moves

• Sharg Gapisi → Şərq Qapısı (move) (discuss) – one of undiscussed moves contrary to WP Azerbaijan status quo – In ictu oculi (talk) 14:50, 16 November 2014 (UTC)
