I Love New Year is an Indian romantic comedy film directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru starring Sunny Deol and Kangana Ranaut in lead roles.[1] The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar under the banner of Super Cassettes Industries Ltd. The planned release date of the film was December 30, 2013 but was shelved after numerous delays.[2] The film was extensively shot in Mumbai, New York City and Bangkok. The main plot was taken from Soviet movie "The Irony of Fate". Now the producer of the film T-Series have decided to finally release it on 10th July 2015 after 2 years of delay post success of Kangana Ranaut's Tanu weds Manu Returns.

Synopsis

I Love New Year is an upcoming comedy film starring Sunny Deol and Kangana Ranaut in the lead. It's a story on what happens between two people in a span of two days after New Year's Eve.[3]

The movie follows a beautiful musician (Kangana Ranaut) and a serious Wall Street banker (Sunny Deol), that have a chance encounter on New Year's Eve that the banker can't seem to remember and the events that come about as a result of the two meeting.[4]

In 2011 directors Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru announced their intent to begin work on I Love New Year. The film originally had the working title of Happy New Year, but had to change the title due to Shahrukh Khan who also was using the title for a film he was working on during the same time period.[6] Actors Sunny Deol and Kangana Ranaut are starring in the film,[7] with Ranaut stating that she trained over a month in order to gain the correct expressions and body language of a musician.[8] Filming commenced in summer of 2011 at Filmalaya Studios in Mumbai,[9] with the final scenes having to be filmed in New York City.[10] The film was due to be released on 26 April 2013 this date was changed. Release date history

Firstly it was reported for February 22.[citation needed] Then it moved to April 26. After this, it moved from July 26 to September 13.[citation needed] Then it became due on December 30, two days before the new year.Now after 2 years of delay the film will finally release on 10th July 2015.[11]

In June 2015, Kangana Ranaut slapped the makers with a legal notice for allegedly riding piggyback on her recent success and trying to release the stuck-in-the-cans project without her permission.
