The 2015–16 season is the club's 126th season in existence. During this season, Mohun Bagan start the I-League as the defending champions (having won it last season).
Pre-Season Overview
On 7 June 2015, shortly after ending last season successfully, Bagan's and I-League's best defender of the 2014–15 season, Bello Razaq, was brought up by East Bengal F.C., the club's bitter rivals.
A few days later, Bagan forward Balwant Singh was also reported to be linked with East Bengal F.C.. He later signed in favour of Bagan, withdrawing his link with their rivals.
On 17 June, the club confirmed the signing of one of India's high profile players Lenny Rodrigues from Dempo S.C.[1]
On 27 June, Bagan confirmed the signing of an experienced and well-built Brazilian defender Gustavo Silva Conceição from Orlando City SC.
Season Overview
August
On 9 August, Bagan started their season in the Calcutta Premier Division. Their start though wasn't promising as their rivals, East Bengal kept on winning games but they weren't enough successful on winning many games and lost vital points.
They started their campaign against Mohammedan S.C. but weren't enough strong to score against them even after a Mohammedan player was sent off in the first half and the game finished 0-0. Their next match was against SAI Darjeeling. But this match again was a disappointment for them as they drew with them also. This match also failed to produce a goal and ended 0-0 even after SAI played half of the game with U-20 players.
They played their next match against Southern Samity which they won 5-2 in which Dudu scored a hattrick and Katsumi scored the other two. The next match again was successful for them as Katsumi again scored a brace containing a free-kick goal and the other one was added by Dudu.
On 25 August they lost their first of the season against Army XI who not only were able to keep Bagan strikers at bay but Jain P. was able to add a solo goal in a rainy atmosphere making the scoreline 1-0.
They returned to winning ways in the next game against Tollygunge Agragami where they defeated them 3-1 from two goals from Dudu and another from Lalkamal who scored after many games to be the first Indian to score for Bagan this season.
