AIDAmar is a Sphinx class cruise ship, built at Meyer Werft for AIDA Cruises. She is the sixth Sphinx series ship, preceded by sisters AIDAdiva, AIDAbella, AIDAluna, AIDAblu, AIDAsol and followed by AIDAstella. AIDAmar was delivered to the shipping company by Meyer Werft on 3 May 2012.[3]

Concept and Construction

AIDAmar was ordered on 13 December 2007, together with AIDAsol, at Meyer Werft by Carnival Corporation & plc, the parent company of AIDA.[4]

On 1 April 2012 AIDAmar will be floated to Meyer Werft in Papenburg. Fifth in a series of six ships ordered by the German company AIDA Cruises, the ship measuring 252 meters long and 32.2 meters wide. Displaying a gauge 71,300 tons, it has 1,096 cabins. Multimedia shows on board of the AIDA Cruises liners during Hamburg Harbour Anniversary 2014

In May 2012 AIDAmar was fully equipped with laser technology and show production on board. This is a ninth installation by Emotion Media Factory for AIDA Cruises. Emotion Media Factory experts developed a special laser technology, which can withstand extreme climatic conditions as well as direct contact with sea water on the open-air deck. [6] The multimedia shows are developed, programmed and implemented by Emotion Media Factory on a remote basis. For all cruise liners Emotion Media Factory creates new shows for each and all ships 3 to 4 times per year. Totally Emotion Media Factory produces over 40 shows each year for AIDA Cruises. The unique feature of the shows is that they can be updated on a remote basis. That allows delivering new shows for spectators on a regular basis.
