I.T. is a thriller film directed by John Moore and written by Dan Kay and William Wisher. It stars Pierce Brosnan, James Frecheville, Anna Friel, Stefanie Scott and Michael Nyqvist, and is produced by David T. Friendly and Beau St. Clair, who was Brosnan's producing partner at the Irish DreamTime production company before she died. The film is scheduled to come out on September 23, 2016 with limited release and on video on demand.

Plot

Mike Regan (Brosnan) is a self-made man who has it all: a gorgeous wife (Friel), a beautiful teenage daughter (Scott) and a sleek, state-of-the-art smart home. His company is on the verge of changing the aircraft leasing business forever, when his relationship with Ed Porter (Frecheville), his I.T. consultant, goes bad. Mike soon finds himself in a deadly high-stakes game of cat-and-mouse when Ed starts stalking Mike's daughter and using technology to threaten his family, his business...and his life.

Cast

Production

The film was first announced in October 2013 as a revenge thriller with Pierce Brosnan headlining the project, to be financed by Voltage Pictures and was set to be directed by Stefano Sollima.[4] In August 2014, it was revealed that John Moore replaced Sollima as the film's director, and commissioned a total script rewrite by William Wisher.[5] Stefanie Scott was cast in April 2015 as the daughter of Brosnan's character,[6] and that the film was to start shooting in June later that year in Ireland.[7] A month later in May, it was reported that Anna Friel joined the cast as the wife of Brosnan's character and James Frecheville was going to play the young antagonist,[8] with Michael Nyqvist coming on board a few days later.[9] It's the last film to be produced by Beau St. Clair before she died from cancer.[10][11] Principal photography began on 25 June 2015,[12] and was wrapped on 29 July 2015.[13]

Release

The film's North American distribution rights was acquired by RLJ Entertainment, aiming to release the film in limited amount of theatres and video on-demand in September 2016.[14] The theatrical trailer for the film debuted in August 2016.[15]

Miscellaneous

In The Simpsons episode "Treehouse of Horror XII", the House of Whacks chapter features Pierce Brosnan's voice as a futuristic house smart system which eventually tries to murder Homer Simpson.
