Early life

Beast is the pseudonym for an anonymous Italy-based street artist.

He has been very active on the streets of Europe and United States since 2009, with a focus on stencils at first and nowadays creating digital collages aiming to highlight political and social issues.[3]

Career

Beast has produced public artworks that portray some of the most powerful political figures in the world, including Vladimir Putin and Barack Obama in a tet-a-tet,[4] Donald Trump,[5] Angela Merkel,[6] along with others, such as Marine Le Pen,[7] Alexis Tsipras[8] and Jean-Claude Juncker.[9]

It was 2009 and since then «Beast», the name behind the author of dozens of collages and photomontages of political satire, has entrusted hundreds of works to the walls of Milan (and beyond). From Angela Merkel to [Renzi], [Mario Draghi] to [Meloni], the protagonists of his works are always the faces of politics. Beast - which in Italian would be called Bestia - is a boy with a smile and disarming beats, about thirty in abundance, but does not even want to say his age. [10]

Angela Merkel in person control and with a half-starved kid in her arms: So the road workmanship craftsman Beast sets the Chancellor in Milan in scene. The Italian craftsman Beast has made the photos. Since 2009 he needs to delineate political and social level headed discussions with his works out in the open space in Europe and the USA.[11]

Beast is using the technique of photo manipulation[12] to create his works and the methods of wheat pasting and billboard hijacking[13] to place his works in the public sphere. His public artworks have been captured in a number of cities across the globe, including Milan,[14] London, Tokyo, New York, Brussels, Berlin, and a number of other European cities.[15]

In a DumbWall interview, Beast stated[16] "Sometimes people do not recognize my pictures as a personal project, they think it’s just another guerrilla campaign pasted on a wall. It sounds like a typical Coen’s plot, a struggle between what it is true and what wants to seem true", letting open the possibility of not using this medium in order to make his artworks more realistic or more believable, but due to a potential fluency in this medium.

Jerome Catz' guide "Street Art: Le Guide"[17] and Nicholas Ganz guide "Street Messages"[18] have included some of Beast's creations. Public Art Festival,[19][20][21][22] Tokyo International Art Fair,[23] Oxford International Art Fair,[24] Grenoble Street Art Festival[25] and CityLeaks Urban Art Festival,[26] are some of the cultural frameworks that have showcased the artworks of the Italian public artist.

Beast creates "visual traps", a collage of photographic re-elaborations framed in gold and displayed in the city streets as if they were the corridors of a museum. Beast manages to unite Matteo Salvini in the hunt for Roma camps, the interceptions of Alfano and the barbed wire of Roberto Maroni. [27]

L'immagine liberalism is the film of the Dreamers di Bernardo Bertolucci e Beast's deciduous intentolar "Come what may" (ovvero "Qualunque cosa accada"): an inviting all-for-the-money politiche has been set up to form a governmental organization.[28]
