Yashika Aannand or Yaashika Aannand simply or sweetly treated as Yashu (born 4 August 1999) is an Indian film actress and Instagram model who works predominantly in Tamil cinema.[1][2] She made her debut in the breakthrough iconic film, Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru where she played the lead role as Shruti. She is more popularly known as a social media influencer and as a fashion model.[3] Yaashika is also well regarded for her boldness in attending the interviews and has raised concerns for the empowerment and betterment of status of girls and women in the society.[4]

In June 2018, she entered the Bigg Boss Tamil 2 reality show as one of the contestants after missing out to take part in the inaugural season of Bigg Boss Tamil in 2017.[5][6] She entered the Bigg Boss season 2 as the first contestant and also emerged as the youngest participant in the second season.[7][8][9][10][11]

Career

Yashika Anand made her acting debut in 2016 at the age of 16 after gaining popularity among the public as a model as well as an Instagram fame. She made it to the Kollywood industry after being a popular personality in Instagram.[12] She appeared as a molested girl in the 2016 film, Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru.[13].

She also acted in supportive roles in few films including Kavalai Vendam (as a swimming instructor in cameo appearance), Paadam (as a Hindi language school teacher) before playing a lead role as Gautham Karthik's voluptuous girl friend in the adult sex comedy film, Iruttu Araiyil Murattu Kuththu where she replaced Rashmi Gautam as the third main actress in the film.[14]

Apart from her film career, she also received an offer to take part at the first season of the Bigg Boss Tamil which was hosted by Kamal Haasan through Star Vijay but she turned down the offer to pursue her filming career after Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru success..[15] Eventually she took part as a contestant in second edition of the Bigg Boss Tamil show.[16][17][18]

For her role in IAMK, she received criticism for choosing to act in an adult comedy [19]
