A barnstar for you!

The Anti-Vandalism Barnstar
Lotta vitriol against this quarterback tonight, huh? hewhoamareismyself 06:02, 12 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! And I don't even watch football! RockingGeo 岩石 Talk 06:03, 12 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hardly any football here, leastwise until the Patriots are in the playoffs. The rest of Boston's teams deserve the love more. hewhoamareismyself 06:06, 12 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I wish I knew what that meant. :) RockingGeo 岩石 Talk 06:11, 12 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

My edit is not vandalism, it is fact. The facts that I am explaining in the Harriet(film) page are explained elsewhere on wikipedia--such as Harriet Tubman's biography. I honestly don't see an issue at all with what I am posting. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dsinagoidnonoingioah (talkcontribs) 20:40, 14 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Explain yourself

You have twice undone an edit I made without bothering to give a reason. You have twice left me silly template messages accusing me of being unconstructive. You are being extremely disruptive. Time to grow up, act in the collegial way required here, and explain what your issue is, if indeed you have one. 88.217.152.166 (talk) 08:18, 13 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@88.217.152.166: You were given multiple explanations on your talk page. As you've now removed them, I'm sure you've seen them. As was already said, you were reverting a significant amount of content without explaining why or seeking consensus on the talk page. Edit-warring was not the correct way to handle it. RockingGeo 岩石 Talk 14:57, 13 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You still haven't explained why you undid my edit, despite being asked three times. ...if the reversion is not adequately supported then the reverted editor may find it difficult to assume good faith. You've also falsely accused me of vandalism and of breaking the 3RR. I do not think you are here to improve the encyclopaedia, are you? 88.217.152.166 (talk) 15:33, 13 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
This administrator thinks that you both are editing in good faith on the article in question. That said, the issue may need more discussion than an edit summary would allow, so this is probably the time for both of you to discuss the matter at the talk page. The IP can that provide a more detailed explanation on why they feel the text should be removed, and RG can provide rebuttals to those points or a policy-based explanation for why the text should stay. —C.Fred (talk) 15:42, 13 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@88.217.152.166: Again, I undid your edit because you were reverting a significant amount of content without properly explaining why or seeking consensus on the talk page. From my perspective you were blanking the page as many other IP vandal users do. This has been explained to you from the start and after every time you asked. Just because I said this to you in your talk page instead the edit summary, that does not mean I never explained my actions. I'm not going to explain this again, as I feel it's been restated too many times. As for the 3RR, why do you think removing other users content 3 times in 24 hours is not a violation of the 3RR? RockingGeo 岩石 Talk 16:32, 13 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I properly explained my edit; you still haven't bothered to explain why you undid it. Not understanding the edit is not a valid reason. And you've thrown in an insulting insinuation of vandalism, both here and in your false accusation of 3RR violation. It seems to me that you are not willing to properly understand WP:3RR, WP:BEBOLD, WP:REVEXP, WP:NOTVAND, WP:NPA and all the other policies and guidelines that are supposed to govern this effort to build an encyclopaedia. 88.217.152.166 (talk) 17:54, 13 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@88.217.152.166:Saying “this is not encyclopedic” is not a proper explanation to blank a whole section. Doing so definitely makes you appear to be a vandal. Just use the talk page next time.
Also, it’s true that you made 3 reversions. Blanking the page was your first revert, then you undid edits twice. That’s 3. RockingGeo 岩石 Talk 20:20, 13 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
But I just realized the 3RR is for 4 reverts, not 3. Sorry, I must be tired and was confused by the name. Still, please use the talk page when making significant changes to a page, or you'll appear to be a vandal, especially as an IP. RockingGeo 岩石 Talk 20:42, 13 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
My first edit was not a revert, it was an edit. And as you finally realised, even if it were, I still would not have broken the rule you accused me of breaking. Meanwhile, you have clearly have a poor understanding of what vandalism is. Read WP:NOTVAND. You may disagree with my edit; you may argue against it and you may undo it if you explain why you are doing so; you may not accuse me of vandalism for it.
I am annoyed that you wasted my time with your pointless reverting, spurious accusations, and personal attacks. My time is much better spent improving articles. If you are here to improve the encyclopaedia, I trust that you will not engage in similar behaviour in the future. 88.217.152.166 (talk) 19:52, 14 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Edit warring at Sleeve gastrectomy

Hello RockingGeo. You and the other party are both warned per the outcome of the complaint at the edit warring noticeboard. You are risking a block if you revert the article again without getting a prior consensus for your change on the article talk page. Thank you, EdJohnston (talk) 02:28, 15 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2019 election voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2019 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 on Monday, 2 December 2019. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2019 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:24, 19 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!
