eComXpo is an educationally focused, online virtual trade show designed specifically for search, affiliate and interactive marketers.[citation needed] The trade show is 100% virtual and takes place entirely on the Internet.[citation needed] eComXpo uses the virtual trade show ASP solution created by inXpo.[citation needed]

A combination of flash technology, sound effects, live chats, virtual briefcases embedded in HTML with Javascript (DHTML) is used to emulate a real word trade show as closely as possible.[citation needed]

The bi-annual show is open to anybody who is interested in the subject and admission is free to attendees.[citation needed] The educational sessions are also open and free to attend during the live event. Access to the recordings of sessions from past events and additional exclusive presentations is available for either a fee for each individual presentation or a fixed subscription that provides access to all available presentations. The duration of each subscription is limited to up to six months. [citation needed]

Visitors have the ability to visit virtual booths of companies who present themselves at the event and can collect information and store them in a virtual briefcase and chat with people who are staffing the booth and exchange virtual business cards.[citation needed] Visitors have also the ability to engage other visitors of the conference directly and communicate with each other and exchange contact information to keep up with the marketpalace.[1] Those are common activities from real world trade shows, simply transported into the virtual world of the cyberspace[2].

Because the event happens entirely online, attendees and exhibitors are not required to travel to the venue location and are able to attend the event from their office or home.[citation needed] The online requirement to be able to attend the event are an internet connection and a computer with a web browser installed. Especially companies who are located outside the United States appreciate the cost and time savings.[3]

This does not change the fact, that exhibitors treat the online event just like a normal convention in the real world.[4]

The Panel Discussions are broadcasted over internet radio by WebMasterRadio.fm and available in mp3 format and as podcast xml feed.[5]

History

  • The first eComXpo was held between February 17-19, 2005[6] and had 1,600 attendees, 92 exhibitors and 75 presentations by industry experts.[7].[neutrality is disputed]
