Just thought I'd let you know that your article Principality of Marlborough has been nominated for deletion here in what appears to be a targeted campaign by a group of zealous but largely misinformed editors. I strongly believe this article documents an important piece of Australian political history and should not be deleted under any circumstances. --Centauri 02:55, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

:My pleasure. In case you hadn't already seen, a number of similar micronation articles have also been targeted in the same way: and Seems to be open season at the moment. --Centauri 02:42, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

Welcome from me too. I noticed you fixed my "pony plub"! I hope you take the time to give yourself a user page soon, with a brief mention of where you live (I'm guessing it's Oz) and as much as you like in the way of quick links and ToDo lists. Enjoy your time here anyway! Robin Patterson 15:09, 3 Sep 2004 (UTC)
Thanks! I've slapped together a nice simple user page, I never know what to write about myself in these things! Lankiveil 07:16, Sep 4, 2004 (UTC)

Newmarket station

Great photo! Glad you added one, it was certainly going to take me a while to photograph 'em all . . . nice to have another Brisbane person around. Lacrimosus 08:28, 4 Sep 2004 (UTC)

ANZ

Hi. I was looking over the Australian bank articles, and saw that you said in ANZ that it is the largest bank in Australia. Where did you get this information? Their own website simply says "ANZ is one of the largest companies in Australia and New Zealand". I always thought National, Westpac or Commonwealth would be the largest bank in Australia. ANZ doesn't have a huge presence here. - Mark 09:14, 12 Sep 2004 (UTC)

I thought that it was common knowledge that ANZ are the biggest. I did some research though, and it appears that NAB is the biggest bank in Australia, although the Commonwealth are fast catching up. NAB has next to no presence hereabouts though (southeast Queensland), so I guess it's subjective.
Nevertheless, I'll fix up the error.

Weather report

Thanks for the weather update on Wikinews. I've left a message with a question on your user talk page over in the Wikinews space. --DV 08:22, 26 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Celsius
Fahrenheit
I posted the first version of the world surface condition maps in the weather section. Lankiveil, I e-mailed you the source files to your gmail account. There are Celsius and Fahrenheit datasets in the XML file.
(If anyone else wants the source files, or can provide a repository to hold them, please let me know.) — DV 09:50, 10 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Cricket wikireader

As you are a member of Wikipedia:WikiProject Cricket, I thought you might be interested in this. I have made a proposal to create a WikiReader for cricket. Perhaps you could comment at User:Smoddy/WikiReader Cricket on my suggested content. Cheers, Smoddy (Rabbit and pork) 16:23, 14 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The Gap, Queensland

Thank you for leaving me to fix all of the links so that the pages would link to The Gap, Queensland instead of to The Gap, Brisbane, Queensland when you moved the article. I have just completed this task.

As the mover of the page, it was your responsibility to fix the links to the new title.

The reason why the title was given as 'The Gap, Brisbane, Queensland', was to distinguish the Brisbane suburb from the Mount Isa location which is also called 'The Gap', and which has been designated by the title of 'The Gap, Mount Isa, Queensland'. Did you even bother to check why 'The Gap' had the name 'Brisbane' in the title, or did you consider this to be too much an effort on your part to embark upon, or too much of a waste of your time.

Because of all the work involved in having to change the links from the pages which link with 'The Gap, Queensland', for the Brisbane suburb page, the article will continue to keep that title. Another reason is because the title is now uniform in keeping with other suburbs of Brisbane.

A final word. Next time you 'move' pages to a new title, please fix up all relevant links, instead of leaving the task for other people to do. Figaro 14:19 October 5, 2005 (UTC)

Your response does not answer my comment that it was your responsibility to have changed the links from going to "The Gap, Brisbane, Queensland", so that they would go to "The Gap, Queensland". In your response, you chose to completely ignore the fact that it was your responsibility to do this. Any time that I have moved a page, I have always all the links to the page so that they would go to the new page. Figaro 09:12 October 6, 2005 (UTC)

When you move a page, the instruction is given to check links to make sure that they link properly to the new title. For instance, when you click on the word 'check', you are given a list of pages which link to the old title, so that you can change the links on those pages for the links to properly access the new title. Did you choose to ignore the instruction? Furthermore, it is vital to make sure that there are no double redirects, and Wikipedia makes it explicit that these should be dealt with. When you move a page, do you even bother to check about double redirects?

As far as blanking the discussion page is concerned, none of the messages that I have ever received have been deleted - not even yours - and all messages that have been written to me are still publicly accessible. I discovered that Wikipedian talk pages are accessible at other non-Wikipedian websites, and the move was because I did not want non-Wikipedians being able to read my messages. If you want to check out my messages, all you need to do is to click on the link to 'personal pages' at the bottom of my user page. This will take you to an index page for three further pages - one of which is called 'personal notes', where messages I have received are available to be read. Figaro 11:57 October 6, 2005 (UTC)
