Bulgin is part of Elektron plc which is quoted on the Alternative Investment Market of the London Stock Exchange under the symbol EKT.

History

Established in 1923, A.F. Bulgin and Company PLC has been a pioneer in the British radio, electrical and electronics industries, originating and developing many key components.

The company was founded by the late Arthur Bulgin OBE, a life member of the Royal Society of Arts and of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, and one of the six founder members of the Radio and Electronic Components Manufacturers' Federation (RECMF). He was a man of strong principles and integrity who soon established a reputation for providing the highest level of service to customers and for secure and rewarding employment.

From the outset Arthur Bulgin instituted a policy of continuing investment in R & D, the most modern manufacturing techniques and comprehensive test facilities. Over the years this has enabled the company to meet all relevant British, European and American standards.

The sustained growth which has taken place, in line with the needs of the rapidly evolving radio, electrical and electronics industries, necessitated the company moving to its present headquarters in 1939. The Barking factory, now almost ten times its original size, has enabled development plans to be met consistently right up to the present day.

Another important milestone in the Bulgin history was reached in 1948 when the company went public, gaining a full listing on the London Stock Exchange. This event strengthened Bulgin still further, while the same founding family principles upon which the business was originally built have been maintained at all times.
