River Bluff High School is one of five public high schools in Lexington, South Carolina and provides education for ninth through twelfth grades in the districts of Lexington, Lake Murray, and Oak Grove. Located on the eastern side of Lexington, SC, River Bluff High School overlooks the Saluda River and is only a few hundred feet from Interstate 20 and U.S. Highway 378. River Bluff was established in the fall of 2013. RBHS is known as "The Swamp". River Bluff is also the second EL school in America, with the first being it's sister school, Meadow Glen Middle School.
Development
Construction of River Bluff was completed in August 2013. River Bluff was constructed with many windows to reduce the cost of lighting.[citation needed] The students receive materials delivered online rather than through textbooks.[citation needed] River Bluff is one of the largest schools in South Carolina, totaling to 540,000 square feet. The construction of River Bluff totaled $138.9 million, authorized by voters in 2008.[7]
correction: voters approved the bond referendum in 2008, the district board of education voted to spend $138 million on one high school for < 2,000 students
