• Keep Meets General Notability Guidelines (WP:GNP), which is summarized as thus: "If a topic has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, it is presumed to be suitable for a stand-alone article or list." Captain Rivera's contributions to the Marine Corps and Puerto Rican heritage are covered as the central topic of multiple independent sources, including the LA Times,NYTimes, military tributes, and the US Congress. The aggregate of this independent coverage seems more than adequate to meet the threshold for General Notability Guidelines.

• Keep - Notable. Also of note (according to the revision history), for nearly a decade Captain Rivera was believed to have been the first US servicemember casualty of the [corrected] Operation Desert Storm (based on his death on Jan. 22, 1991).
