Ricky Lee Green (December 27, 1960 – October 8, 1997) was an American serial killer who murdered at least four people in Texas. He is also a suspect in eight more murders.[1]

Murders

  • Stabbed, castrated and beheaded 16-year-old Jeffrey Davis in April 1985. His body was found in a wetland in Fort Worth.
  • In October 1985, he picked up 28-year-old dancer Betty Monroe hitchhiking in Fort Worth and killed her with a knife and hammer.
  • The following month in November of 1985, he also killed 27-year-old Sandra Bailey, whom he had met at a western bar in Fort Worth.
  • In September 1986, he stabbed and castrated 28-year-old Steven Fefferman at his Fort Worth home.[2][3]

Sentencing

In 1989, Green was charged with murdering Fefferman and sentenced to death for the crime in 1990.[4] His now divorced wife, Sharon Dollar Green, had contributed extensively to his arrest and conviction. While Sharon claimed that she was an accomplice in two of the murders (that of Monroe and Bailey), she also claimed that she had been forced to do so by her husband, and was eventually sentenced to 10 years of probation.[5][6]

In November 1991, she appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show. In 1994, author Patricia Springer wrote a book called "Blood Rush", based on the crimes. Ricky Lee Green was executed by lethal injection in the Huntsville Unit on October 8, 1997 for his crimes.
