Sinai, (Barrio sa Sinai; Barangay ng Sinai) is a component barangay in the Municipality of Sibagat, a 1st Class Municipality in the province of Agusan del Sur, Caraga Region, Mindanao Islands, Philippines. The barangay is located at the western part of Sibagat town.

Etymology
Barangay Sinai got its name from the biblical mountain in Egypt called "Mount Sinai". In the Holy scripture, "Mount Sinai" is a sacred place and is renowned as the principal site of Devine Revelation, where God is purported to have appeared to Moses and given him the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20; Deuteronomy 5). The early inhabitants named the place also as "Mount Sinai" referring to the one in the Bible since the place is also a mountainous area. When the village was created into a regular barangay, the word "Mount" was omitted and they used officially the name "Sinai" until the present time.

History
In 1946, after the World War II liberation period, Sinai was declared as one of the de facto barangays of the Municipal District of Nuevo Sibagat under the jurisdiction of the then, Municipality of Butuan of Agusan Province, now Butuan City.

On September 11, 1953, when the town of Esperanza of the undivided Agusan Province was created by virtue of Executive Order No. 611, all territories within the Municipal District of Nuevo Sibagat including Sinai were segregated from Butuan City and transferred to the Municipality of Esperanza.

On August 6, 1961, when the former Municipal District of Bayugan which was part of the Municipality of Esperanza was created into an independent municipality by virtue of Executive Order No. 440, Sinai and all other barrios and sitios within the territories of Nueva Sibagat were segregated from the town of Esperanza and transferred to the jurisdiction of the newly created Municipality of Bayugan, Agusan Province.

On February 1, 1980, Sibagat was created into an independent municipality, all barrios and sitios comprising the northern and northwestern territories of Bayugan including Barangay Sinai, were separated from the Municipality of Bayugan and organized into the newly created Municipality of Sibagat, Province of Agusan del Sur through Batas Pambansa Blg. 56.<ref name=":22">{{Cite web|last=Juris|first=The Corpus|date=1980-02-01|title=B.P.
