Terminator

The word terminator is from Latin and means the finisher.

Science and technology

• In astronomy, the terminator is the line between the day side and the night side of a planetary body (also known as the "grey line"). See terminator (solar).
• In electronics, a terminator is placed at the end of a transmission line or daisy chain bus (such as in SCSI). See Electrical termination.
• In genetics, a terminator marks the end of a gene on the DNA for transcription.
• In biotechnology, Terminator Technology refers to proposed methods for restricting the use of genetically modified plants.
• In programming, a terminator is usually a null byte/word/dword signifying the end of data. For instance a string of text, or an array.

The Terminator is a 1984 action film directed by James Cameron and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton and Michael Biehn. It was followed by Terminator 2: Judgment Day and Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.

• The DC Comics character, Deathstroke the Terminator was originally known simply as the Terminator.

Other

• Terminators, in Robotech, refers to the clone elite footsoldiers of the Robotech Masters who used to serve as senate guards.

• In the Warhammer 40,000 universe, Terminator or Tactical Dreadnought Armor is power armor used by the Space Marines, and enables the wearer to take massive damage and fire large weapons while moving. The name is also used for those warriors who wear the armor into combat.

• "Terminator" is also the code name (not the NATO reporting name) for the Sukhoi Su-37 Russian fighter plane.
• The Terminator was a nickname of Anatoly Onoprienko, the Ukrainian serial killer.
• 'Terminator' is the codename for the 2003-2004 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra
• 'Terminator' was also the name of a Finnish "Gladiator" who appeared in the first of the International Gladiators series. Dominoes!
