GameZnFlix Template:Otcbb is an online DVD rental and online video game rental subscription service offering flat rate rental-by-mail to customers in the United States.

GameZnFlix operates in much the same fashion as other online DVD rental subscription services such as Netflix, although it rents both movies and video games and thus also competes with game-only services such as GameFly. Subscribers can buy selected DVDs or games at a reduced price, should they choose to keep the movie or game. GameZnFlix also acts as a traditional online retailer to subscribers who wish to buy new copies of DVDs, video games, books, or audio books.

Also, retail outlets such as Circuit City offer "pre-paid" versions of GameZnFlix for new subscribers (where they pay one month worth of service in advance), and gift certificates can be sent to friends and family -- although these require the people receiving the "pre-paid" pack or gift certificate to furnish a credit card as a means of verification and securing future charges.

Rental offerings and memberships

GameZnFlix claims 50,000 titles of DVDs AND Games for the PlayStation One, Sony PlayStation 2, Microsoft Xbox, Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP), Nintendo GameCube, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Nintendo's Wii

GameZnFlix offers four monthly subscription plans [1], which allow the customer 1, 2, 3 or 6 DVDs and/or games at a given time. All plans are of the unlimited DVDs variety. 14 day free trials of most of the plans are available, although these have access to a restricted selection of the inventory [2].

Members of the U.S. military receive discounted pricing (roughly 10% off) on these plans, and GameZnFlix will apparently ship to foreign military bases through the APO/FPO military mail service.

Financial, inventory and subscriber information

According to recent SEC filings[3], GameZnFlix has historically maintained a subscriber base of around 3800, with a 2005 year-end figure of around 6000. An estimated 15% is college students. Inventory consists of around 100,000 copies of 50,000 titles. The monthly "burn rate" is $150,000, with 2005 revenue of $676,291.

Distribution centers

GameZnFlix currently has 9 distribution centers in El Centro, California (near San Diego); Northern California (near Sacramento); Franklin, Kentucky (near Nashville); Sterling, Colorado (near Denver); Worcester, Massachusetts (near Boston); Gaithersburg, Maryland; Altamonte Springs, Florida; Texas (near Dallas); and Seattle, Washington.

Future distribution centers are planned for Illinois (near Chicago) and a few other undisclosed states during 2006, with possible expansion into Canada and the United Kingdom.

Marketing

From February 2004 through the 2005 Super Bowl GameZnFlix maintained a television advertisement campaign, some of which featured the actor Ben Curtis (best known as "The Dell Dude" in advertisements for Dell, Inc.). Throughout 2006, GameZnFlix has included themselves in the sponsorship of a bicycle racing team in and around the Tennessee locale and sponsoring several watercraft competitions throughout the United States. With the expansion into the United Kingdom, they have also increased their advertising on the Internet via major ISP providers and through their own affiliate program creating awareness worldwide.

A pilot marketing program with electronics retailer Circuit City from November 2005 to March 2006 was extended to a full co-marketing agreement by which all US stores will eventually offer customers "pre-paid" versions of GameZnFlix, as well as other promotional efforts by Circuit City (in flyers, its website, etc). All stores are expected to be participating by December of 2006.

On August 26, 2006 GameZnFlix, along with partner ClickCaster teamed up together and embarked on a national tour to promote GameZnFlix and to raise money for local charities in those cities. The tour began in Franklin, Kentucky with their first big party in Nashville, Tennessee at the Jet Ski Finals Championship and culminates at the same spot on December 16, 2006 for the GameZnFlix RidgeRacer 6 Challenge Championship with $15,000.00 going to the winner. On September 5, 2006, in addition to Clickcaster, GameZnFlix added new team members for their charity tour, McDonald's® and Microsoft Xbox 360 for the promotional gaming competition. The Microsoft Xbox 360 competitions will feature Ridge Racer 6 by Namco as the official game. The McDonald's® promotional Road Trip is also on a nationwide tour at the same time.

The rest of the tour schedule includes stops in Boston, Massachusetts; Washington, D.C (stopping in Rockville, Maryland); Glen Allen, Virginia; Charlotte, North Carolina (stopping at Huntersville); Athens, Georgia; Orlando, Florida; Little Rock, Arkansas; Dallas, Bedford (between Dallas and Fort Worth), Fort Worth & Lubbock, Texas; Denver (making a stop at the home of the NFL franchise Denver Broncos at their Mile High Stadium) & Boulder (stopping at Folsom Field home to the collegiate University of Colorado at Boulder), Colorado; Albuquerque, New Mexico; San Diego, Los Angeles & Sacramento, California; Seattle, Washington; Salt Lake City, Utah; and Chicago, Illinois.

ClickCaster will be along for the ride and will be broadcasting from GnF's other partner Circuit City stores, special event sites and McDonald's® restuarants along the way. Each site will coincide with the proximity of the GameZnFlix distribution center in those areas.

In addition to the Challenge competition, there will stops at various McDonald's® restaurants where the GameZnFlix tour bus will stop to allow people to play Ridge Racer 6 and/or watch a movie(s) on the GNF Entertainment 20-foot inflatable screen at sunset. At these stops GameZnFlix will donate the first month's fee of monthly memberships sold to a local Ronald McDonald House or Ronald McDonald House Charities chapter without a minimum donation.

Note: Included on this marketing and promotional tour will be Challenge Stops (where contestants at each stop will compete against each other in the RidgeRacer 6 challenge and the winner at each stop to compete in the finals when the tour ends in Nashville). In addition, Game and Movie stops will be included at McDonald’s® restaurants along the way.
