This is a list of channels that have shut down in the United States. these are below channels are ended or shut down.

* the longest-lived channel in the mid-70s, TelePro Text was closed down on February 16, 1982. after 17 years of service.
* [[Satellite News Channel]] closed down on October 27, 1983. Owned by [[Group W]]
* [[Alpha Repertory Television Service|ARTS]] closed down on February 1, 1984, merging with [[A&E Network]]. Owned by [[Hearst Corporation]]
* Home Theatre Network closed down on May 1, 1984, replacing The Westinghouse Superstation Network. Owned by [[Group W]].
* [[Cable Music Channel]], still it was short lived, closed down on November 27, 1984. owned by [[Turner Broadcasting]].
* [[Spectrum]] closed down in 1985.
* [[ON-TV]]: Subscription Television closed down in October 1986.
* The Football Network closed down in December 18, 1987.
* TalkNet closed down on June of 1988.
* Liner TV closed down on September 1, 1988.
