India Africa Trade Council (IATC) is an Indian non-governmental trade association that provides a platform to enhance business activities between India and Africa.[1]

Background

IATC is an non-profit, trade association, that facilitate Indian Businessmen wanting to do Trade in African countries. IATC secretariat consist of different sub committees.[2] It was established in Chennai for building up business relations between India and African countries. IATC was Inaugurated by Nagma Mallick, Additional Secretary (Africa) Ambassador and Dr Tizita Mulugeta Yimam, the Ambassador of Ethiopia in India.[1] IATC has trade offices in different cities of India to that include Kolkata, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Indore, Ranchi, Bhubaneshwar, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kochi, Bangalore and Hyderabad. IATC offices in Africa are in Accra, Tunis, Rabat, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Botswana, South Africa, Mauritius, Kenya and Zambia.[3][2][4][5]

In December 2021, The Ambassador of Sierra Leone to India His Excellency Rashid Sesay was welcomed by Dr. Asif Iqbal , President of IETO and various trade initiatives were discussed including the visit of Multisectoral Indian Delegation to Sierra Leone.[10]


Tunisia

In Feb 2021, India Africa Trade Council established the India Tunisia Business Council.[11][12][13]

Namibia

Namibia Trade office was opened in Chennai under the India Namibia Trade Forum with support from the IATC. The office was inaugurated by the High Commissioner of Namibia in India His Excellency Gabriel Sinimbo and the President of the IATC Dr. Asif Iqbal. The office has been set up by The IATC in collaboration with the India Namibia Trade Forum (INTF).[14][15]

Libya

In June 2021, a cooperation agreement was signed between IETO and the Libya African Business Council in Tunis. The agreement focuses on cooperation in the field of IT, Healthcare and academic institutes.[16][17]

Zimbabwe

An Indian Trade Organisation delegation made up of over 15 investors, led by President Asif Iqbal visited Zimbabwe for investment opportunities. The delegation was facilitated by the Zimbabwe India Trade Council and the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC), the delegation was welcomed by ZIDA Chief Executive. Vishal Nagesh is appointed as the Vice Chairman of the Zimbabwe India Trade Council.[18] The delegation was welcomed by Zimbabwe Miners Federation President Madam H.B. Rushwaya and The Secretary General Mr. M. Mugawu.[19][20][21][22][23]
