You have been blocked from editing for a period of 2 weeks for edit warring. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  -- ferret (talk) 11:59, 31 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • With permission from Ferret (talk · contribs), I have amended this block so you will only be prevented from editing the article namespace. You will be able to use talk pages and participate in the above-linked discussion of your behaviour. Stifle (talk) 13:15, 31 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Unblock requests

June 3, 2022

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Dan Wescher (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

1) I had never heard of "The Iron Warrior" prior to being blocked for supposedly being a "sockpuppet" of them. How can this account be a puppet of a user I didn't even know existed? 2) I will admit that I let my temper get the best of me and may have treated some users unfairly, but I can assure you that starting edit wars was not my intention. If I do get unblocked, I promise that I won't fight users and make more constructive contributions. 3) I promise to change my behavior by listening to other users and not breaking the privacy rules. 4) I also request that the autoblock be removed as I feel it's excessive, and I don't plan on making anymore accounts.

Decline reason:

WP:SNOWBALL. I'm not at all convinced you are unrelated to The Iron Warrior. As for your other points, it's not just that your contributions were a little out of line. They were far beyond what could possibly be acceptable here, far beyond. Yamla (talk) 11:16, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

For unblock patrollers: I blocked this user on a combination of behavioral and checkuser technical information. I believe I've made the correct determination, and as such, the user would be under 3X community ban. Please contact me for details, including a bit of private evidence. -- ferret (talk) 22:20, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
As far as I'm concerned, the indefinite block is warranted even if―purely for the sake of argument―we drop all talk about sockpuppetry. I'm thoroughly unconvinced by: I will admit that I let my temper get the best of me and may have treated some users unfairly, but I can assure you that starting edit wars was not my intention. This isn't an admission that they started an edit war, nor acknowledgement of the majority of the issues I raised in the ANI thread, and moreover there is no convincing description of how they will change their behaviour. — Bilorv (talk) 22:29, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I updated it to acknowledge how I will change my behavior. Anyway, I really do promise to change my ways. —ÐW-🇺🇦(T·C) 22:36, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Can you say specifically what you did wrong? For instance, what "biography rules" did you break and in what way? Your comments are very vague. — Bilorv (talk) 22:43, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The rules stated at "Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons#Privacy of names". —ÐW-🇺🇦(T·C) 22:50, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I was hoping also to hear WP:3RR and some acknowledgement of the uncivil pattern of edit summaries. — Bilorv (talk) 09:26, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This user is asking that his block be reviewed:

Dan Wescher (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

  1. I had no idea who the "The Iron Warrior" is prior to being blocked for supposedly being a "sockpuppet" of them. Additionally no evidence is provided that I am related to them. Also, going through their talk page and contributions, it appears the user you blocked me for allegedly being a sockpuppet of only sends cringy threats to administrators without providing real arguments. I do not wish any harm on administrators, and if I wrote something that did sound like a threat, it was not at all intentional
  2. I now understand that I was part(ial)ly blocked for harassing users, starting edit wars, providing non-constructive edits, and picking fights off-talk page, all of which are against this wiki's rules.
  3. I will admit that I let my anger get the best of me and may have treated some users unfairly, but I can assure you that starting edit wars was not my intention. If I do get unblocked, I promise that I won't fight users and make more constructive contributions.
  4. I promise to change my behavior by listening to other users and not breaking the rules stated at "Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons#Privacy of names". I will also make sure to follow the Three-Revert Rule and discuss undone changes by administrators on articles' talk pages.
  5. Last but not least, I will use neither my user page nor my sandbox to harass or intimidate users.

In conclusion, I understand that my behavior came off as egotistical and maniacal, and I sincerely apologize for my inappropriate and intimidating behavior.

  • In some cases, you may not in fact be blocked, or your block has already expired. Please check the list of active blocks. If no block is listed, then you have been autoblocked by the automated anti-vandalism systems. Please remove this request and follow these instructions instead for quick attention by an administrator.
  • Please read our guide to appealing blocks to make sure that your unblock request will help your case. You may change your request at any time.

Dan, let's give you a chance here to come clean. First, you start off with a falsehood. Public evidence, as much as is allowed by policy, was given in the ANI thread. Maybe you didn't read it, so I'll re-state: You edit from the same city as The Iron Warrior. This is technical data available to me as a checkuser, and policy prevents me from disclosing further information publicly. Additionally you have overlap on several topics with the master, and early on edited in a very clear similar pattern. Secondly, we're not required to "prove" to you that you're the Iron Warrior. What I do have to do is, if doubted, prove my case to my peers. I believe my case is fairly ironclad though, because... Thirdly, one of the last socks of the Iron Warrior publicly declared their social media accounts. Would you like to guess what one of the names they disclosed was? -- ferret (talk) 14:08, 5 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
May you please be clearer on what you are referring to when you say "Would you like to guess what one of the names they disclosed was?" —ÐW-🇺🇦(T·C) 14:47, 5 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
They clearly identified themselves as "Dan Wescher". -- ferret (talk) 14:51, 5 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Are you capable of providing links? I have never done anything under the name "Iron Warrior". (Sounds like an unsuccessful British rock band, to be honest.) —ÐW-🇺🇦(T·C) 14:54, 5 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No, I'm not. Various policies prevent me from posting that information publicly. Any unblock appeal admin is free to ask me for it. It's moot though, you know exactly what your other account names and identities across Wikipedia, Fandom, Youtube, etc, are. -- ferret (talk) 14:57, 5 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Well... the only names I have ever used online are Dan Wescher and X-Inbox, none of this "Iron Warrior" tomfoolery. The point about the editing "pattern" is also ironically vague, as "pattern" could mean pretty anything in this situation (aside from an actual visual pattern). —ÐW-🇺🇦(T·C) 15:03, 5 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
