Hi Dan, I wanted to talk about unblocking you and Livelikemusic. As I mentioned on their talk page, it seems like things got tense between you, and I'm hoping that we can try and deescalate things so that I can unblock you without worrying that we'll have another edit war. As I said on LLM's talk page, I totally get why you were frustrated, but LLM is right that you went a little too far. That's the problem with edit wars: it creates animosity between editors. The reverts provoked LLM and so they responded in turn, causing it to spiral out of control. That is why I blocked you both: trying to break the conflict cycle and get you both to discuss the problem. At this point, I'm hoping that we three can discuss what the dispute was about and how to resolve it. Once you two come to an understanding on that, I'll be happy to unblock. Sorry, I didn't mean to upset you with the decline, and I'm thankful for Wugapodes's calm approach above. I was looking at capslock-shouting of text that had already led to a previous decline and simply wanted to draw a line there. The block will expire in exactly 24 hours, which is probably already the easiest solution. Appeals of automatically expiring blocks make sense if the situation has drastically changed or the block is clearly unjust, in which case it would make sense to end the block with a clarification in the block log. It happens, and I'm glad you're on board. I actually misremembered the block length--I thought it was two weeks instead of one--so it seems like the block already expired. I still think it would be useful to figure out how to resolve the Hursley credit. LLM argues that the credits and article combine the names, but you suggest listing them separately. I couldn't find the part of MOS:LIST you referenced, but it seems your point is that it's better to list them separately for maintenance reasons and ease of reading. Would you be willing to say more about why you think listing them separately would be better? Are there other options that might work like "The Hursleys"? Tagging pages for deletion

Hello, Dan,

Whenever you tag a page for deletion, please include this information in the edit summary. I just deleted a couple articles you PROD'd and the edit summaries were blank. They are important because if an editor removes a PROD tag, there needs to be a record that the article has already been PROD'd once and for that, we scan the edit summaries for the article. If the PROD tag has been removed and an editor wants to pursue deletion, they then know to go to WP:AFD rather than PROD'ing twice. Thank you. Liz ^{Read! Talk!} 23:38, 14 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Duplicate template arguments in Template:Twitch navbox

Re: your edit ("I don't see anything about template arguments"):

You can see the error in edit mode by pressing "Show preview". At the top of the screen, you'll see:

Warning: Template:Twitch navbox is calling Template:Navbox with more than one value for the "groupstyle" parameter. Only the last value provided will be used.

The template that has the error is "Navbox" and "groupstyle" is the parameter (also called an argument). Any parameter name (e.g. "groupstyle") can appear only once in a template call. Your edit has 2 "groupstyle"s within the Navbox. When there are more than one of any parameter name, only the last one will be used; the other one(s) will be ignored and won't affect the displayed article.

An article with such errors shows up in Category:Pages using duplicate arguments in template calls (which is where I saw it). An added problem with templates is that articles that use the templates inherit the errors and will show up also -- E.g. Twitch (service) and Twitch Plays Pokémon

BTW, User:Plastikspork is one of the most prolific and knowledgeable users on WP. I would think long and hard before reverting his edits. Davemck (talk) 03:27, 15 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
