range of contrabass oboe
The image :File:Contrabass oboe's range.png () on the article Contrabass oboe is confusing, I suppose that it means an 15mb on the first note? Could someone fix that? QiuLiming1 (talk) 02:11, 29 July 2022 (UTC)

Hats off to the author(s) of the Oboe article

I would just like to compliment the author, or authors, of the Oboe article. It is extremely well written and exhaustively researched.FullyFilled (talk) 19:12, 29 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Music for other instruments that oboes can play without transposition

The oboe shares key of C with several other instruments. Given that oboe is not as popular, the music may not be available, but it may be available for a different instrument. Which instrument's music is best to look for? e.g. I've seen happy birthday sheet music for violin, flute and oboe as the same notes - but the violin arrangement for jingle bells is not the same as the oboe arrangement. So I assume that 101 Disney Songs for Violin is unlikely to sound the best when played on an Oboe. Is this a valid assumption? Is there a choice that would be better in most circumstances? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Roughana (talkcontribs) 02:08, 9 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Roughana:, oboist here. Typically talk pages are just used to discuss the article itself, so if you have a question in the future, I'd recommend going to the reference desk. That being said, I'd be glad to answer your question on your user talk page. Keep an eye out there. Noahfgodard (talk) 03:06, 9 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

My desire would be for an answer to this question to be available on the Oboe page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Roughana (talkcontribs) 09:25, 9 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
