Damar Romeyelle Hamlin (born March 24, 1998) is an American football safety for the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Pittsburgh.

Early life and high school

Hamlin grew up in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania and attended Pittsburgh Central Catholic.[1] He was named first-team All-State and the Class AAAA Defensive Player of the Year.[2]

College career

Hamlin played in three games as a freshman before suffering an injury and redshirting.[3] As a redshirt freshman he recorded 41 tackles with one interception in nine games played.[4] Hamlin led the Panthers with 90 tackles and two interceptions as a redshirt sophomore and was named honorable mention All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). He had 84 tackles with 10 passes broken up as a redshirt junior.[5] He was named a team captain going into his final season and was named second-team All-ACC after leading the team with 67 tackles and seven passes broken up.[6][7]

Hamlin was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the sixth round, 212th overall, of the 2021 NFL Draft.[10] He signed his four-year rookie contract with Buffalo on May 21, 2021.[11]

After playing a reserve role his rookie season, Hamlin became one of the Bills' starting safeties after Micah Hyde suffered a season-ending neck injury in week 2.[12]
