Technoid is a sub-style of drum and bass that emerged in the mid-2000s.
Style
As the name suggests, it is a mixture of techno and drum and bass using very dynamic techno sounds and percussion over drums as a base.[1] The technoid sound is very different from the typical drum and bass sound. The closest to it are neurofunk and techstep. But, unlike neurofunk, in technoid, sharp synth basses (one of the key features of neurofunk) practically do not matter, and are sometimes used only in a “stripped down” version. Unlike techstep, it is more dynamic, direct, and with less sound distortion.
The common features of modern Technoid are as follows: stripped-down percussions, percussive loops, dark, cold and psychedelic melody based on various technoid sounds, squeaks, noises, etc., which later, repeating, fall on the main kick.
