Mullard vs Philips

According to the lead, "This chip was also manufactured by Mullard for Philips" yet the title of the article is Mullard SAA5050. So was the chip originally designed by Philips (in which case the article ought to be moved to Philips SAA5050)? If, however, Philips was the second source then the sentence doesn't make sense.
