In 1989 he started a band under his own name and released his first album. After releasing the album Guitarland in 1993, he was noticed the following year in the TV program Jazzduellen in SVT (Swedish Television), where older, established musicians met younger ones on their way up. In the program he played and was interviewed together with swedish jazz guitarist and composer [[Rune Gustafsson]].
