Breaking News is a 2023 Pakistani television series directed by Kashif Nisar, who co-produced it as well. The series features Amar Khan and Hamza Sohail as leads. It first broadcast on Green Entertainment on 9 December 2023.[1]

Premise

The series is about the struggle, role and challenges of the journalists while reporting the truth. It also showcases the evil ethics of the influential politicians who manipulate the journalism to push their agenda.[1] The plot centers on the professional and personal lives of two journalists Mishaal and Hussain.

Plot

To fulfill her childhood dream of becoming a journalist, Mishaal comes from Gujranwala to Lahore where she is hired as a news anchor by a news channel called JNN, after a lot of struggle. Her friend Hussain who himself works as a content producer in a news channel helps her to change her dream into reality. As a content pridcy, he wants to remain sincere with his profession but surrounded by the materialistic people and ratings-oriented tactics make it impossible for him. Mishaal comes to know about the challenges of her profession when her predecessor Ayesha, a single mother surrounded by financial and personal problems suicides one day.

Naveed Khan, the head of the channel where Hussain works as a content producer, has a traumatic past due to which he involves in sensation rather than stands by truth and true. His father suicided when he had suffered on the hands of the society due to reporting truth. He promotes sensationalism by the budding issues and doesn't compromises on TRPs. Hussain resigns from his job to not work with him but the new programme director Azmat Bhagio invites him to his team and destines to bring the main issues on forefront which will bring viewership for the channel as well.

Mishaal starts hosting her talk show "Pucho" where she makes the corrupt and influential politicians accountable. However, she leaves it when Aziz Khan, an influential politician and the friend of the channel's owner gets furious on her questioning and the owner interfers and and misbehaves with her.
