It was located at Beard & Chatfield Sts. in SW Detroit and occupied the whole block to Green St. During the Great Depression, Detrola offered "Women's work" such as electronics manufacturing because the work was light and required more detail than men would typically employ. Further, it was one of the few employers in SW Detroit for ANY work. Well-paying jobs were scarce during the depression.
