Irine Julia Majale who is known professionally as Julia Majale is a Kenyan journalist, editor and the Managing Director of Tuko.co.ke.[1]In 2021 she made the list of Top 25 Women in Digital at the SOMA Awards.[2]She is board member of the Women Human Rights Defender's Hub powered by Kenya National Commission on Human Rights.[3]

Education

Julia holds a Bachelor’s in Communication and Media Studies from Daystar University. She also graduated with Executive Masters in Media Leadership and Innovation from the Aga Khan University.[4]She is a beneficiary of the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers Women in News Leadership Accelerator Programme in 2021.[1]

Standard Group PLC

She completed a five-month internship at Standard Group PLC in May 2013 and returned to the station a year later to take on the roles of Social Media Editor and Online Sub-Editor.[5]

Tuko.co.ke

In June 2016, Julia moved to Tuko.co.ke, a division of Pan-African Digital Media Company, Legit, to work as an online news editor. In May 2017, she received a promotion to Monitoring Editor. After three years, she was elevated to the position of Managing Editor, and then Managing Director in 2023.[5]
