Production
The documentary is the behind the scenes of the creation of the hotel, through the narration of a journey that starts by evoking the Empire of Augustus (who transformed his Rome from a city of bricks into a city of marble), up to the inauguration event with the participation of international celebrities and over 600 guests arriving in the eternal city from all over the world.
Starting from the restoration of the building by Vittorio Ballio Morpurgo, the documentary shows the different phases of the intricate renovation starting from the first phases of conception and design by the architects Antonio Citterio and Patricia Viel.
It took more than 50 days of filming to capture the behind-the-scenes work of the artisans who brought centuries of experience and tradition to the creation of Hotel Roma. The artisans give a rare testimony to the immense love and passion behind their craft, genuinely expressing the joy of "working with heart and hands" to create unique pieces with a "soul".
The secret of beauty, of luxury seen as something made by hand, unique, perhaps even imperfect and not by computers or machines, is precisely in the craftsmanship. For the first time a film shows everything that customers don't see: the meticulous planning, the architectural genius, the artistic vision, that almost obsessive search for perfection, which made the creation of this handmade jewel possible, with expert hands.
