[edit]"Alibis" section Should be given header "Criticisms Of" or something similar, with criticisms attributed to prominent scholars and intellectuals (such as Dirks). As it stands, this section appears to be a criticism of Seeley's interpretation of imperial history by the entry itself. TimothyBurke (talk) 16:39, 16 March 2012 (UTC)
Erroneous Quote and publishers date?
[edit]In 'The Expansion of England: Two Courses of Lectures'. The 'famous quote' is not Seeley having said "The British Empire was acquired in a fit of absence of mind" it is "We seem, as it were, to have conquered and peopled half the world in a fit of absence of mind.".
The publisher date given should read 1891 by MacMillan & Co. in 1891.
My source is The Expansion of England: Two Courses of Lectures 2005 Cosimo, Inc. under which it gives the original publisher details. See page 8 for quote reference. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.1.87.234 (talk) 03:22, 29 November 2012 (UTC)
