Rugby union project

There's a Wikipedia:WikiProject Rugby union that you probably don't know about. The league equivalent is working quite nicely but the union one only has five participants. I've seen quite a few of your edits on Scottish rugby union pages so I wondered whether you are interested. Image copyright problem with Image:Ryuvsadon.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Ryuvsadon.png. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. I've just noticed that you have been here a while and nobody welcomed you! Here follows the standard blurb, but you truly are very welcome. Thanks also for the (unsigned!!) message you left at my Talk page. I really do not know how on earth I managed to delete the images: that was a total accident - I was probably working too fast. Thanks for re-adding. As far as the other edits are concerned, I was trying to remove things written in a non-encyclopaedic fashion. By all means improve the article, but please use WP:CITE, and write in an appropriate tone. Also, please visit Scottish Wikipedians' notice board. Ta.

Infobox Situation

Hello retro, I notice that you have created a second scottish infobox without gaelic and scots fields. While this is roughly an outcome that I agree with, I don't think it is best to start creating splinters to the infobox situation. The decision to include the two fields was taken without any discussion, and I am on record as stating that a lack of consensus before implementation was not a good idea. There is now a discussion on the situation here and I would encourage you to post your views. In the meantime I have reverted your use of the second infobox in Selkirk, as it is better that everything remains consistent until a settled decision is made. Debate, Vote and Consensus on use of names in Scottish wiki articles

Rather than embaressing yourself by making ludicrous accusations of 'vandalism' against any who might edit in a manner approved by the accepted conventions for an article but against your own bigotry you may well want to voice your dissent on the relevant debate Here which happened fairly recently and which reached a consensus which disagrees with your particular bias. Do they even know where names like Innerleithen or Auchencrow come from? How did these names appear in the Borders? Did they appear by magic? By the way, neither of these names come from Brythonic or Anglo-Saxon (Old English)

i dont know who left this, since they didnt write there name, but my point still stands, if any of these people were to get off their soapboxs and read a book or visit the south they would know and understand that the vast majority want nothing to do with gaelic

Did you do spelling at school? I've read plenty of books, and my point stands. Why are there Gaelic placenames in the region if "it was never in the area"? You'll be telling me there was never any Norse there soon too. Oh, yes, and I have visited the "south".

they certainly do not teach gaelic in the borders, please contact the SQA if u dont believe me. and also i have no idea where auchencrow is its not in the borders

It seems to me though that User:retro_junkies has a point, very few people if any speak or understand Gaelic in these areas, so it seems quite misleading to have the Gaelic names on there town names, giving the impression that this is considered the norm.

-Actually, they do. There are evening classes in Earlston, Peebles and Kelso. They're well-supported and people also love finding out how rich and varied Scottish culture really is. Students from these classes have gone on to take courses at Telford College and Sabhal Mor Ostaig. There's also an organisation, Gaelic in the Borders, which has over forty members, not bad for such a widely-scattered rural area. I'm a lowlander by upbringing and have lived in the Borders for nearly 30 years and I can honestly say it's been en eye-opener to me, learning Gaelic. I wish I'd been taught more about Highland culture in school.
