Curtis S.S.K. is the third studio album by rapper 50 Cent.[1] It is set to be released on June 19 2007.
Initially, 50 Cent told MTV that he wanted to name the album Before I Self Destruct because "it could potentially happen".[2] However, he decided to change the album's title to Curtis instead. It has been reported that he wants to save the initial title (Before I Self Destruct) for his final album on Interscope Records (excluding a possible greatest hits album).[3]
On January 4 2007, while on The Howard Stern Show, 50 Cent said the album was "80% done".[4] G-Unit's DJ Whoo Kid suggested that it may be a two-disc album; the first being "club-banging ridiculous" and the second being "hardcore killer shit".[5] 50 Cent confirmed that the album will be just as aggressive as his previous albums Get Rich or Die Tryin' and The Massacre.[5] 50 Cent stated that this will be G-Unit's year.[6]
Artists that are likely to appear on the album will be G-Unit members (Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo, and Young Buck), as well as other artists signed to G-Unit Records (such as Young Hot Rod, Mobb Deep, or M.O.P.). Other artists likely to be on the album will be from the Shady/Aftermath roster, such as Eminem, Stat Quo, Ca$his, Bishop Lamont, or Busta Rhymes. Mary J. Blige, Jay-Z, Swizz Beatz, Robin Thicke, and Nicole Scherzinger from the Pussycat Dolls have all been confirmed to appear in the album.[7][8]. New York rapper Papoose has also stated that he would "be honored" to work with 50 Cent on his album.
Robin Thicke confirmed that he will be a part of the album.[9] Justin Timberlake will also be featured as it has been reported that he recorded a track together with 50 Cent for the album.[10] Akon has confirmed in a Rolling Stone interview that he worked with 50 Cent for the Curtis album.[11] Eminem has also stated that he recorded three tracks for the album.[citation needed]
In an interview with MTV, producer Jonathan Rotem discussed working with 50 Cent on the new album. Rotem said that 50 Cent was definitely into "soulful stuff".[12]
A song called "Revealed" featuring Justin Timberlake was confirmed as being on the album in a recent interview with Timberlake.[10]
While on Tim Westwood's show on BBC Radio 1, 50 Cent confirmed that four singles with videos will be released before the release date: "Straight to the Bank", "Come & Go", "Amusement Park", and "Follow My Lead". He also confirmed that the album would have eighteen tracks. He said that "Straight to the Bank" is the only track about money..[13]
On the 25 April Albumvote reported that Eminem will feature on the album with a song called "Pipe Show".[14]
The album will have sixteen tracks and two bonus tracks.
