Mian (Urdu: میاں ) is a particular title of nobility used in Punjab, Pakistan. Mian are predominantly for the ruling members and leaders of Arain tribe.

It can be used to mean a variety of men in notable positions, including Sardar, or more informally for an owner, respectable and honorable man and husband. Mostly used by Arains, it is also used by some Chinioti Shaikhs and Kashmiris. Mian Nawaz Sharif, former Pakistani Prime Minister is a Kashmiri.

Arains from Lahore are famous Mian Arains of Mozang Chungi, Ichra, Sanda, Mughalpura, Baghbanpura, Singhpura, Dharampura, Qila Gujjar Singh at Lahore.

To have the last name Mian is a very good honour. Mian's are very succesful and are very noble. They are very knowledgable in the field of agriculture.

Mian Family

Mian family is a Pakistani noble family. It has enjoyed a prominent role in Punjabi and Pakistani politics since the days of the Mughal Empire. On record this family is the only one which officialy received Royal title of Mian from Mughal Emperor Sha Jahan for their prominent contributions in the region.
