This article is about the Australian metal band. For the legends surrounding the artifact known as "the Spear of Destiny" (or "of Longinus") see Holy Lance. For other uses see Spear of Destiny (disambiguation).

Spear of Longinus are a metal band from Brisbane, Australia who formed in 1993 after the demise of the short-lived outfit Equimanthorn in 1992. They began as a black metal band with a strong thrash influence but have since moved on through a Punk/Thrash sound to experimenting with a more 'rock' approach and coming full circle to doing tribute to some seminal influences of the band with their latest recording.

Thematically, Spear of Longinus deals wholly with the development, or evolution, of the human being. The approach taken by the band has encompassed traditions from Europe, the Middle East, the Sub-Continent and the Far East; all being utilized for their common inner teachings of the esoteric evolution of the human being.
