== Controversy section ==

Hello,
this article once included a section about in-game controversies such as RMTing and the effect of gilsellers (Real-money trading) on the FFXI economy. I would just like to know why it has seemingly been removed entirely? [[User:Rdysn5|Rdysn5]] 00:29, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

FA push

Few notes:

  • The gameplay section is way too long. It probably needs to either be trimmed by 1/3, or moved to a subarticle and summarized in a few paras. The problem is that we don't want to continue this process with a lot of the other Final Fantasies, which cover enough gameplay info on the article already. FFIX is clearly all gameplay, and we already have a class list, so it's a reasonable move.
  • Everything else is pretty minor. I'd say if we can get the gameplay issue settled, then we'd already have more than half the battle. — Deckiller 06:19, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

German and French

As of March 2007, the game is also available with French and German text. Take a look at the European PlayOnline site. --84.184.97.146 12:41, 24 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Premiere sites and FFXIclopedia

Putting the link to FFXIClopedia is within the context of this, it should not be mutualy exclusive. I think that the list should include notable sites (like all the premiere sites) and maybe some larger fansites such as, say, Limit Break Radio. I call your attention to the World of Warcraft page, paticularly it's external links section. This includes WoWWiki, The IGN WoW site and even Allakhazam. Now, I don't mean to compare the two games, but to have different rules for two different MMOs is absolutely rediculus. What I think needs to happen is something to the effect of:

==External links==

Official websites
  • PlayOnline - Official Website for Final Fantasy XI
  • Premier Sites - Official list of informative fansites associated with Final Fantasy XI, selected by SquareEnix.
Useful information
Other sites

If there are no objections or problems, I shall implement this list. If you have any, say so. Finaly, Ganiman (I know that's you), get a Wikipedia account and make your voice heard! If you want to complain, let us hear it! --Zero Serenity 13:57, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ganiman already has an account and his voice has been heard a long time ago, believe me. I am not familiar in handling the case of MMORPG ELs, so anyone else have comments feel free to do so. — Bluerです。 なにか? 14:16, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You were saying? --Zero Serenity 14:36, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Precisely. There has been an argument before, which I was not aware of at the time I was vouching about ELs. I'm not an above-policy editor, if I may add, I only did what I understood of the policy, but that was his judgment; he may go with his, but I know what I am. As for the ELs, I have no comment. — Bluerです。 なにか? 14:52, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think FFXIclopedia and others fall under category 4 of "What should be linked." --Zero Serenity 14:56, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Too many external links. Stick to four: official site, fansite list, Final Fantasy XI on FFWikia, and FFXIencyclopedia. — Deckiller 20:42, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    • I don't agree here. This is actualy a small number of links in comparison to other pages. I would say 10 should be the absolute limit here (we're at 9). I should give a rather small reminder that this really isn't the same sort of Final Fantasy game as the rest. So having a few more links than normal wouldn't kill us. --Zero Serenity 21:42, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    • I wish to formally object to the inclusion of Allakhazam on this list for the reason they are owned by the same company that owns IGE, RPG Holdings LLC (This was outright admitted by Alla himself in a post on his forum soon after the deal went down, if it is requested I can dig up links to the relevant posts). To add to that it is well-known throughout the FFXI community that most of the "information" contained on that website is either wrong, incomplete, or misleading. ---- Toksyuryel talk | contrib 21:42, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wait, wait. What's the point of listing all these fansites when they are all already listed in the second link, Premier Sites? I mean, it's not even a problem of relevancy or not, it's just simply redundant. These fansites are all already listed in the second link. Kariteh 21:48, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I was probably writing that a bit too fast and messed up such redundancy. --Zero Serenity 22:04, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cut locations section, combine job system and leveling system

I think we could probably do with removing the locations segment, and putting Signet information elsewhere. Also, the job and leveling system sections could be consolidated, since the mechanics of raising a job are identical to that of leveling. Achilles2.0 03:19, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
