It is my pleasure to inform you that you are now an admin. Congratulations. You can feel free to do everything you're supposed to do and nothing you're not supposed to do. If you haven't already, now is the time look through the Wikipedia:Administrators' how-to guide and Wikipedia:Administrators' reading list. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me, or at the Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard. -- Cecropia 22:04, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Keep up the good work on reverting vandalism and blocking trolls! SalaSkan 13:24, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Thanks for restoring The Webb Schools. In the future, do look carefully at the page history before deleting spammy-looking articles. ;-) --orlady 13:52, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Was there any worthwhile content on the talk page for that article? (I notice that the talk page was not restored.)--orlady 15:42, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I notice you removed the copyvio speedy deletion tags from Michael Joseph Owens and Robert W. Gore. However, these are clearly blatant copyright violations. The editor who contributed the article erroneously believed that factual narratives lacked copyright protection. While he is correct that the underlying facts themselves may not have copyrith protection, a narrative that strings them together is protected under the law. If you have any questions on this concept, don't hesitate to hit me up on my talk page. And congrats on your recent promotion! -- But|seriously|folks  14:25, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, why do you prefer to keep this image, although there exists more properly drawn picture with higher resolution Image:Halon-1211-2D.png? Tomaxer 14:40, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Great work on WP:UAA, and congrats on becoming an admin! Yours sincerely, Eddie 15:14, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Evilclown

You just deleted a photo that I uploaded to wiki. I am asking you why did you delete this file, as I have the full copyrights for using this picture on the web. I am looking forward for a rational explanation for deleting this file.

Thank you in advance

Best regards Schieless,

Unnecessary block

Why did you block Miszabot II when the bot owner had posted that he had stoped it and was fixing it already? - CHAIRBOY () 16:58, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Probably because no such edit by the bot owner exists. [1] - auburnpilot talk 17:15, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
My mistake, I meant TexasAndroid of course. Well, looking at the block log, I guess the block was made before the relevant post, I was just confused because Evilclown93 appears to have responded TO the post that the issue was being worked, but it must have just been a timing issue. - CHAIRBOY () 17:21, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Also, EvilClown has only been an admin for a few short days, so maybe cut the guy a little slack here? - Alison 17:28, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Article "Pacific Centennial Group"

Hi,

It came to my attention that the article was deleted due to G11. It was strange because the subject has been recognized as an important part of Singapore online history. The company received this email on 11 June 2007:

<-I've hid the letter->

I hope that the article could be re-instated and be protected from vandalism. Thanks.

Hey, I think protecting Battle of Washita River is definitely better than what was happening. However, you got it just as I was trying to replace the {{totallydisputed}}. Do you think you could throw that in there for me? Cheers! Murderbike 18:26, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! Murderbike 18:29, 1 July 2007 (UTC) By the way, what will be the process for getting this article unprotected? Murderbike 19:02, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

Thank you for the Barn Star

In the interest of fairness to this user, your block notice linked to vandalism, and your block comment licked to sock puppetry, but I believe the block was actually for 3RR.

I support the block itself, but you might wish to correct the history to accurately reflect the situation.

I'm assuming this was an accident on your part, however if there was a reason to obfuscate the links and comments then feel free to ignore this msg. Peace.Lsi john 20:24, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sicko controversies

Why did you protect the page? My notice was placed on the 3rr board. Not that protecting the page bothers me (in fact it gives everyone a little break, which is good), but I don't see it having any effect on the underlying problem. Which of course is the user who reverts any changes made to the page. I have a feeling that as soon as the page is unprotected, user will start reverting the page back to his or her preferred version. User who created the page doesn't use the talk page looking for consensus or real input so it seems that your decision to protect the page is just prolonging the situation. Anyway, it looks like there is consensus to merge the page so maybe it won't be such an issue in a few days. Thanks for trying to help and I know that you are a new admin. so I just thought I would give you my thoughts. Cheers. Turtlescrubber 21:35, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Page protection is often used as a means for cooling off the situation without having to punish anyone. (especially since 3rr blocks are preventative, not punitive). In quite a few cases, simply protecting the page for a day or so stops the edit warring. Blocking can cause long term hard feelings, resulting in even more animosity later. Bottom line - judgment call. Peace.Lsi john 21:44, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
