Chris Adler (born November 23, 1972) is an American drummer, best known as a member of the metal band Lamb of God. He also plays the piano, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, and saxophone. He is the older brother to bandmate Willie Adler, and is also a vegetarian along with bandmate John Campbell.
Biography
As Lamb of God gained more recognition throughout the years, Adler's reputation as a proficient drummer in the metal scene grew as well. Typically, he writes his drum parts after other band members have brought him some riffs and ideas. As seen on the Killadelphia DVD, Adler tries to create unique music while not taking anything away from the riffs or the song itself. Utilizing strong symmetry in his drumming and being highly skilled in his double bass work, Adler also creates unique sticking patterns to go along with his unique double bass playing style.
Adler has been influenced by drummers of the metal world including Lars Ulrich, Shannon Larkin, Dave Lombardo, and Vinnie Paul.
Adler also has the longest hair out of all the band members, since the band started adler has not cut his hair once and he only shaves his face to get rid of the little bits of hair on the cheeks to tidy himself up.
Equipment
Chris Adler uses Saturn Series Mapex drums, 12 inch Mapex Black Panther Birdseye-Maple snare, Gibraltar hardware, Aquarian drumheads, Axis Pedals and Meinl cymbals. He also designed his own 24" Meinl MB20 signature pure metal ride cymbal, as well as his own "Chris Adler" Pro-Mark drum sticks.
Chris no longer uses a Paiste Flanger Bell. Meinl made Chris a custom "distortion splash" cymbal and now uses that in place of the Paiste.
