Elias was subsequently selected for the following year's Kangaroo Tour - selection for the Kangaroos is in itself a recognition of skills.

I'd question that. Because he was injured in 1989 (as the writer previously alluded to), Kerrod Walters has taken over as the main Test rake. In fact, Walters was the first-choice hooker on the 1990 Roo Tour, only dropped after defeat to Great Britain.
