TIPS Connections

TIPS Connections is the only formal publication of the Turkish Institute for Police Studies (TIPS).

The Mission of TIPS Connections is as following: Promoting coordination and cooperation among its members, and developing a network of TIPS members, their universities, and faculty members so that global security and world-wide peace can be strengthened.

TIPS Connections is published twice a year (Spring and Fall). In each issue readers are able to read about the activities of TIPS, in addition to enjoying various academic research articles on social sciences.

TIPS is aiming to bring scholars and practitioners meet more often to work on global problems together. Since its establishment (2000) TIPS has organized 2 International conferences (The 1st and 2nd Istanbul Conference on Democracy and Security, in 2005 and 2007), and another combined workshops on Understanding and Responding to Terrorim in Washingto D.C. in 2006, funded by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)and the Turkish National Police (TNP). T

TIPS Connections documents all these efforts of TIPS and publishes them together with many academic articles twice a year. TIPS Connections Spring 2007 issue has been distributed around 10,000 copies to around 100 universities, NGOs, law enforcement agemcies in the USA, European counties, Asian Countries and soem countries in the African Continent.

Holley Huggins

Holley Marie Huggins (1984-present) is a remarkable young woman on a mission. Originally from Alabama her and her family came to Colorado in 1992 where she grew up. She went high school at Chatfield High in Littleton and then college at Colorado State University studying Psychology and Family Behavior. After college she accidentally joined the Peace Corps. She is currently living in Tanzania, Africa.

Ryan Thomas Veron

Ryan Thomas Veron was born on December 31, 1982 in Madison, Wisconsin to Thomas and Marsha Veron. At the age of two weeks he moved to Kansas City, Kansas. He lived in the suburb of Orland Park till he was 3 years old. While he was there his brother Michael Joseph Veron was born on April 1, 1985. In 1986 he moved to Downers' Grove, IL. He lived there for 11 months. In 1988 He moved to Racine, WI were he attended Dr. Jones Elementary School. He was a student there from Kindergarten till half way through his 3rd grade year. Then he moved to Brentwood, Tn. He finished his third grade year at Crockett Elementary School. He also attended Crockett through 5th grade. After the completion of 5th grade he attended Woodland Middle were he spent the next three years playing football, wrestling, and running track. After he finished middle school he attended Brentwood High. At Brentwood High he played football and had the priveledge of meeting many of his life long friends. After Brentwood High he attended the University of Tennessee were he joined Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. Today he is living in Franklin, TN.

    In 2000, Rhode Island native, 'Jasutin Braun'  [ A mix of Japaneese and German interpretations ], 
launched 'neontraces.com', later revised in 2002 as 'terminalwinter.com', and what is expected as a final revision in 2006 
as 'chromearctic.com'. The web site is the hub for photography, poetry, and what has yet to be seen, musical ideas by it's author.

    Jasutin, born in 1972 grew up in Rhode Island, [ Although the geography plainly shows that the U.S. state 
is connected to North America despite it's namesake ]. Admitting not having a focus or voice pinned down 
until late 2002, Jasutin had been writing since 1989, usually in satirical sense or which he calls it 'Dystopian Lingo'. 
The subjects of which include psycology, prostitution, mental illness, science fiction, and inward reflection. Some of the 
verses require re reading as the basic flow of English language uses are replaced 
by bolted together metaphors. 

    "I just put together what sounds good to me. Obvious writing is what keeps me from enjoying 
reading other people's work so I decided to create my own simply out of 
self amusement and a safe outlet for how f**ked up everything feels around me".

    The entire site is in gray scale and features photos distorted or otherwise alongside 
what's considered by the author as his best writing output to date. 
Some as old as 1990 to today. Braun considers the site a specialist area, whereas a small section is 
magnified and not an option until the internet allowed what he calls "Boutique Art". 

    "The net has allowed me to create and maintain my little corner of art, and sometimes, not only 
does someone stumble across it, but a fraction of those who happen upon it, like it. That's enough 
for me. Bigger and better, sure, but i won't be holding my breath".

    Braun, at last known thoughts, is said to be looking for musicians to push his ideas further,
 but wants nothing to do with contemporary sounds as electronic landscapes and atmospheres 
is considered a chief desire and concern of his.

Will Scheren

Will Scheren was born on April 20th 1986 along with his twin brother Kyle. He lived in Mt. Ranier Maryland during his early childhood. His family lived with his mother's parents for a short time while thier house in Loudon County, VA was being built. After his family moved into thier new home will began to go to school in the Loudoun County Public School System He graduated from Loudoun Valley High School in 2004, where he ran track. After graduation he began to attend Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. During his first year their he lived on campus but during the second semester of his sophomore year he moved into a house located at 300 S Priceton Circle with some of his close friends. The group threw parties to pay for rent and learned a lot from each other during their tenior there. After the spring semester of 2007 the house disovled and Will moved in with a few of his less party oriented friends. Now Will promotes alternative rock shows in Lychburg and focuses a lot of time on school and work so he can graduate debt free. On September 8th, 2007 he created a Wikipedia page for his friends to mess with and hopes they use it creatively to tell whopping stories, make whitty jabs at him, and let him know that he is loved.

Daniel Rodd

Introduction

Biography

Born and raised in Colombia, Daniel was bitten by the Radio bug at a very young age of 4 and his first contact with audio equipment too. He loved to imitate and record sound effects from commercials with a microphone in a tape recorder. Daniel Rodd travelled to London at the age of seven, where he entered the world of music. In Middle school education he took singing and violin lessons and quickly learned how to compose, read & write music. His passion for music grew bigger and bigger as he felt the music like the weather seasons. At the age of 10 he went to his first minidisco party where he had the first glance of trance music. From that moment he not only loved trance, but he wanted to discover all the details of it. Amazed with the future sound waves of the 90s trance, Daniel had a christmas wish for a keyboard piano. As he received his gift that christmas, Daniel started discovering all the different instruments and sound effects...

Unfortunately, Daniel Rodd travelled back to his natal country, where he had different activities, a busy study schedule and small resources. After settling down at the age of 14, he entered the world of computers. He quickly became an expert at computers and combined this with radio recording. Daniel soon had a music collection to throw a party at his house; so on his 15th birthday, he set up his garage with lights, sound, and a good ambient, arranging a minidisco for his friends and family. While he mixed the music with 2 cd players, his friends were enjoying the House scene. After that he made other parties with more people, as he improved his voice intros and his mixing with Atomix from the PC.

Daniel graduated from high school when he was 19 and decided to take a part in a project which included voice recording. He developed an English Multimedia Course that semester. After this he joined the Air force for almost 2 years. He was 21 when he retired.

During the last year he put everything into motion. He gathered his old recordings from his intros and was now planning to launch a radio station on the internet with shoutcast. He also developed a web page to go with it. This site would display the products he had made with his brother & father, and a radio station link.

He started mixing and producing songs when he discovered FL Studio as the old Fruity Loops and Ableton Live along with atomix and Nero Wave Editor.

Right now he's working on the launch of a local radio station in his city to reach a big community.

Daniel Rodd has recently produced the songs Birthday & Hazel which have already sounded on digital radio stations aiming global audiences. Discover his music on Beatport and I-tunes very soon!

Marc Valentijn Huiberts

Marc Valentijn Huiberts was born on November 24, 1966 in The Hague. Early in his childhood he started to learn to play music and write short stories. His writing was his main business and as a writer he has become well known through out the world.

Marc Huiberts died under mysterious circumstances in 2001.

Joe Marvin Sherwood

    Joe Marvin Sherwood was born in Springfield, Missouri on Decemebr 31, 1958. Father, Marvin William and mother, Shirley Ann (Kirby). Joe's parents relocated to Houston, Texas when Joe was 2 years old. Both parents held jobs while Joe was going through school. Joe's father bounced jobs and inductry's frequently never staying in one place too long. Joe attended 8 x different schools in his first 11 years of education.
    Joe's parents moved back to Missouri in an attempt to repair what little was left of their marriage. This reloaction lasted only 2.5 years when the family once again moved but this time to Laredo, Texas. Joe was between his sophmore and junior years in high school and stayed behind in Missouri for the summer to play baseball and pick up money hauling hay and joined up with the family (now including his sister Stefini who was born before the family moved back to Missouri. High school in Missouri consisted of 60 students in teh whole high school. Laredo had 1500 at United High. Laredo introduced Joe to many things of which included but were not limited to; lunch time gang-fights (Laredo was 97.5% hispanic), chingalaing beer from beer trucks, boys-town in Neuvo Laredo (Papagyos & the Maribu in particular), Methaqualone, Texas Music and Peyote. It was in Laredo Joe first began his Oilfield Career and with close association to 1 x crew who worked days on MGF Rig #6, Joe picked up US$ 50.00 per day standing in for various personel on this crew and this allowed that crew member not only a day off but he also carried his name in the books.
    Joe played football, baseball and basketball in every year of shcool. But this was never enough to keep his attention. With a troubled homefront and a short attention span in classes Joe opted for early entry into the United States Navy in 1977. Turbulent times immediately followed and Joe was discharged under honorable conditions in late 1979. Joe went to work immediately offshore with Global Marine and worked his way up to Assistnat Derrickman in less than one year. Joe quit Global marine and went to work at Centennial Rental Tools (DWM).In the next 20 years Joe spent 8 of it drilling and working derricks on land rigs, 3 of it in fishing tools and the other 9 in DWM in various positions. 
    Although many attempts at marriage Joe has finally settled down with a beautiful human being of the name Saowanee. Saowanee is a Thai national and Joe now resides in Bangkok, Thailand with his wife "Ying". Joe has a son back in the Sates named Ethan who is from Joe's third wife. Joe's mother has re-married and lives in Columbus, Texas. Joe's father has moved back to Missouri. Joe's sister lives in san Antonio, Texas with her husband David George.

A shattered hope is a 5 piece band from San Diego, California. They comprise of:

Canto Cinco

The members of CANTO CINCO, mainly through their communal singing, desire to make God present to the people they come in contact with. The group aims to be CHRIST-CENTERED through spiritual activities such as the liturgy, prayer sessions, recollections and retreats.

The choir seeks to be COMPETENT/proficient in providing music to its COMMUNITY (especially those belonging to the lower middle class and underpriveleged). The choir also endeavors to be COMMITTED to being CREATIVE so as to be effective in delivering the Gods love through the Jesuit music to the hearts of these people.
