:I have now tried to "help" the article with an extensive revision of the biographical sketch of Farquhar, which I have sourced in great detail to remedy the deficiencies in sourcing previously. There is still room for improvement as some assessment of Farquhar and his critical reception should be attempted. I may come back with material for this, unless some abler hand contributes something first. Hope this revision will be found to better the article.--MollyTheCat (talk) 04:53, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

Referencing
Can the author maybe reference the article like described in section 3.3.4 at WP:CITE or similar? Not to criticize, I mean no offence, but when the same books are used and every footnote has the same full book information that already has been given somewhere else then the references section becomes really clogged and confusing. Thanks, 76.10.141.216 (talk) 15:34, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

This article needs some help

I have made some cosmetic changes to this article, including adding an info box and getting rid of some questionable items (such as the claim that The Twin Rivals has Farquhar's "most frequently quoted line, 'Necessity, the mother of invention'"; that line actually dates back before Farquhar, and according to this info on answers.com [1] it can be traced back to at least 1658 in its present form in English--assuming we do not go back to its non-English predecessors like the line from Persius quoted on this same page). Nevertheless, there is still a lot of work to be done and I haven't yet got the time to do it. Some sourcing of known facts would be a good start. --MollyTheCat (talk) 04:16, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
