Jo Ey Lee - The Chinese Warrior
Jo Ey Lee (AD 190-237)
Jo Ey Lee was once a well reputable general during the Three Kingdoms Era. As a child born in the early Yellow turbans rebellion era, he was trained by his father Wei Xun Lee, to be a competent leader, in both military arts and literature. At the early age of 14, he fought along side his father, in a campaign to end the long fought war between the rival brutal tribe of the Li and their own Lee.
The death of his father, due to a vicious duel against the infamous Kwong Man Lee, as a final settlement as which tribe is the rightful heir of the land. It was only after this that Jo Ey Lee began to write his own story. He was banished from his own land, and went into refuge with the Hakka tribe. There he met some Huangs who were strong, but unloyal bandits, who were known to do anything, at a price.
Paying the Huangs with the last of his treasure, he went back to his own land and attempted to destroy all of the Li tribe.
Jo Ey Lee later married a beautiful woman from the remaining scattered Li tribe, and died at the age of 47 due to the bird flu.
Lee is now the most common chinese surname and are all the descendants of Jo Ey Lee.

Scottish Police Services Authority - Information Communications Technology
The Scottish Police Services Authority - Information Communications Technology (formerly known as the Scottish Police Information Strategy) is an organisation within the Scottish Police Service responsible for the development of new systems with a national, cross-force scope. The personnel consist primarily of around 50 Police Staff, mainly IT professionals specialising in a range of discrete technologies, with a large contingent of those staff comprised of Java J2EE Developers and Oracle DBAs. SPSA-ICT also retains a small number of development staff specialising in .Net technologies. Non-technical members of staff include Project Managers, Administrative Staff, internal Personnel resources, Software Testers, Senior Management, and a very small number of seconded police officers with specialist knowledge of the areas impacted by projects under construction. Seconded police officers are drawn from Scotland's eight police forces, and from SPSA-Criminal Justice (formerly SCRO).
Projects Undertaken
The Scottish Intelligence Database (SID)
The Scottish Intelligence Database was designed by an external supplier, ABM Intelligent Solutions, under the supervision of a team from SPIS, headed by Detective Superintendent Ian McCandlish, seconded from Strathclyde Police. In respect of his involvement with the SID Project, Det Supt McCandlish was a contributor to the Bichard Enquiry (concerning the 2002 murders of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman by Ian Huntley, in particular the concerns that case raised regarding how a person with Huntley's police record and background could have been approved to work in proximity to children).
Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR2)
The ANPR2 Project is an ongoing SPSA-ICT project, concerning the provision of automated number plate recognition (ANPR) technologies to the Scottish Police Service. Notable/controversial aspects of the technologies employed in the project include the collection of information via hidden cameras, concealed in cats eyes in the road.
The Scottish Criminal Records Office (now Scottish Police Services Authority - Criminal Justice) replacement system, also known as the Criminal History System
The CHS Project was undertaken between 2001 and 2007. It was implemented using Java J2EE and Oracle, with Hibernate and Spring. The Project proved problematic for SPIS / SPSA-ICT, eventually culminating in negative news coverage and questions being asked in the Scottish Parliament regarding the cost of the system, the rationale of its design, and the way it had been managed (see Controversy and External Criticism below).
The National Custody System
The National Custody System was designed for the .Net and Oracle platforms. Initial scoping and design work took place between November 2002 and January 2006, with first rollout of the system to a Scottish Force (Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary) taking place in February 2006. As of January 2007, the system is currently being reviewed for rollout within a second Scottish force, Strathclyde Police.
Human Resources System
The HRS Project aimed to provide a single, conherent personel system to the Scottish Police Service. Another personnel system, originally developed internally by Tayside Police, known as SCOPE, also remained in use, however. As a combined result of the move from SPIS to SPSA-ICT, and of the elements within Tayside Police responsible for SCOPE also moving to come under the SPSA, as of April 2007, the SPSA is effectively maintaining two, essentially competing, systems.
Controversy and External Criticism
SPSA, and later SPSA-ICT, came under considerable public criticism for their handling of the delivery of the Criminal History System project. The cost of the system rose from an initial estimate of £1.5m, to an eventual bill of over ten times that amount. In addition to the cost overrun, the system was delivered more than three years later than even a revised estimate of the delivery date, and did not provide any new capabilities that the system it was intended to replace had previously provided. In the most literal sense, the new system was an exact replica of the 1970's-style green-screen, unifont, text-only system that preceded it; the only difference was that this exactly-identical interface was presented to users via a secure web browser, rather than via a mainframe terminal. The rationale given for this decision to re-invent an outdated wheel was that proceeding this way would save on training costs for existing staff. This was widely-perceived as incredibly shortsighted, given that staff retire or leave and are replaced on a rolling basis, and that consequently the training of new staff will therefore always be an issue, regardless of the nature of the system they require to be trained upon. Additionally, as the new system did not take full advantage of the considerable advances in information technology that have come along since the original 1970's design was envisaged, it was felt that a considerable chance to enhance the safetly and efficiency of, for example, the processes that allow persons to be vetted for work with children had been missed. Questions about SPIS / SPSA-ICT's handling of the project were raised in the Scottish news media, by the BBC News, and by an opposition MSP, Stewart Maxwell, in the Scottish Parliament, who called the project "a complete disaster". The net result of the criticism received was that an external software supplier, Real Time Engineering, was brought in to provide Development expertise and Project Management oversight to the project during the period Summer 2005 - Autumn 2007.

Low Lusatian German
Low Lusatian German (in German: Niederlausitzer Mundart (also English: Low Lusatian Dialect)) is a variety of standart German spoken in northern Saxony and southern Brandenburg within the regions of Cottbus and Hoyerswerda. It is well-defined from the Low German dialects around and north of Berlin as well as the saxon dialect group of present day Saxony and the slavic language of the Sorbs.
The Low Lusatian German is a small variation of present day standart German spoken within the regions of Lower Lusatia and the northern part of Upper Lusatia. Both regions were strongly influenced by different dialects, especially after World War II. Rrefugees from East Prussia and Silesia settled there after their dispossession from former German areas. After the foundation of the German Democratic Republic and a econimcal development because of a stronger extraction of lignite people from Mecklenburg, Thuringia, Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt moved to the Lusatia region to benefit from the development. Due to this influences of other German dialects Low Lusatian never formed a too strong variaton from standart German. For poeple moving now into this area the dialect is easy to learn and influnces their spoken language quite fast.
Language
In Low Lusatian German, regional specific words are missing. It contains syncops and apocopes which are used in nearly every German dialect. The only clearly remarkable articulation is the guttural "r". It causes that "-er" always sounds as "-a".
English | Standart German | Lower Lusatian German |
---|---|---|
water | Wasser | Wassa |
hammer | Hammer | Hamma |
sister | Schwester | Schwesta(r) |
In the beginning of a word the "r" is always soft spoken, but furthermore it is nearly not audible within a word. The same effect can be seen on the letter "e" which is also - mostly - vanishing in the endings, the changing of "au" [Error: {{IPA}}: unrecognized language tag: aʊ] to "o(h)/oo/u" and the stretching of "ei/ai" to "ee".
English | Standart German | Lower Lusatian German |
---|---|---|
to rake | harken | haakn |
to work | arbeiten | abeitn |
to buy | kaufen | kohfn |
as well | auch | ooch |
on | auf | uff/off |
up-and-down | auf und ab | uff un(d) app |
one | ein (m.), eine (f.), eines (n.) | een, eene, eens |
peewee | Kleine | Kleene |
In sentences where the "i" is spoken short it is mostly formed to a sound similar to the standart German "ü" [Error: {{IPA}}: unrecognized language tag: y] or [Error: {{IPA}}: unrecognized language tag: ʏ]
English | Standart German | Lower Lusatian German |
---|---|---|
table | Tisch | Tüsch |
church | Kirche | Kürche
(in smaller villages the word Kerke is used.) |
cherry | Kirsche | Kürsche |
Another sign is a different form of the perfect.
English | Standart German | Lower Lusatian German |
---|---|---|
it was switched off | es wurde abgeschaltet | es wurde abgeschalten |
Example Sentences
English | Standart German | Lower Lusatian German |
---|---|---|
The hammer lies on the table. | Der Hammer liegt auf dem Tisch. | De Hamma liecht off'n Tüsch. |
I don't know this either. | Das weiß ich doch auch nicht. | Des weeß ich doch ooch nech/nich. |
We are inside the house? | Wir sind im Haus? | Sin'ma im Haus drinne? |

Ryan, Kieran Ulysees (b.1908 –d.1988)
Kieran Ulysses Ryan was born into a military family on June 17th 1908 in Houston, Texas. The saying “everything is bigger in Texas” has been attributed to his father, General Benjamin Franklin Ryan upon seeing his newborn son, who even then was of a substantial size.
Ryan’s relationship with his father was always strained. The family’s military traditions were long and distinguished with 8 generations having entered the military and attained the level of Colonel or above.
General Benjamin Franklin Ryan was a hard man and was variously overheard to have commented that “had he known, he would have called him Kieran Useless Ryan rather than Ulysees.” He also openly called him “fat and lazy” in public.
Whatever the reason despite entering the military and known to be favored due to the nepotism always prevalent in the military Kieran never rose above the level of First Lieutenant.
This is surprising since not only was he from a very strong military family but despite the disparity in their ranks he was also a very close friend and admirer of Colonel Harland Sanders, later to become famous as Colonel Sanders of Kentucky Fried Chicken fame.
During his time in the army he is also known to have been a close colleague of the aging but passionate Mess Sergeant Crockett Gregory Hanson who the invention of the doughnut is widely attributed to. Hanson was largely appalled by the standard of food served to army personnel and made many improvements. Ryan is known to have been a key supporter of Gregory’s stance. It is believed that the two colleagues spent a lot of time perfecting the art of doughnut punching. This was to play a key role in the rest of Ryan’s life.
He had an outstanding football career in the US forces competition winning many MVP awards as a receiver. He is known to have had a sensational sidestep, dynamic palm and reliable pass. Whilst his father joked that these skills were developed by sidestepping work, palming off responsibility and passing the buck, it is believed that he was proud of his son’s achievements and rarely missed a game.
Following his retirement from the U.S. Army in 1942 largely to avoid the Second World War, Ryan moved to Chicago, Illinois into a flat above a struggling restaurant operated by Dick and Mac MacDonald. While friends with both brothers, Ryan is known to have particularly liked Dick.
Buoyed by a sudden and unexpected upsurge in business the brothers expanded their business, franchised and eventually sold to Ray Kroc who turned the franchise into the world wide McDonalds phenomenon. Ryan is known to have also befriended Kroc as well as Dick and Mac but he was especially fond of Dick for the remainder of his life.
After spending 6 years in Chicago, Ryan moved to his home state of Texas where he lectured in business at Addison University. Two of his prize students were brothers Dan and Frank Carney. He formed a strong relationship with the boys and is believed to have been an immensely strong mentor in their early pizza business which went on to become the enormously successful Pizza Hut chain.
Ryan had, by then, established his credentials in the fast food industry and despite his always strained relationship with his father who wished a military career for his son, he went on to a highly successful career as a consultant to businesses within the industry.
He was truly passionate about the industry and was once quoted as saying that his life-long ambition was “to eat in and evaluate every fast food outlet in the world and write a book about his experiences.”
While the book never eventuated, most probably because of the fastidious manner in which he set about his ambition it is believed that he has got closer to achieving this ambition than anybody else.
He may even have made it but the strain of the task took a massive toll on his already abundant physique and he died of a massive heart attack on 16th June, 1988 one day short of his 80th birthday. He is believed to have weighed in excess of 400 pounds at the time of his death.
It is known that he was a firm believer in reincarnation and did not fear death. He was once quoted as saying that “the only bad thing about death is no more macca’s.”
He was buried in his home town of Houston, Texas; the burial plot was so large that it has been given its own Zip code.
His headstone reads “Kieran Ryan F.L.U.S.A.” and was inscribed by his father.
They must have eventually made peace as this is believed to stand for First Lieutenant United States Army. Although there are still cynics who believe that General Benjamin Franklin Ryan meant Fat, Lazy, Useless, Stupid, Ass when he ordered the inscription.

Blue Order
Hartlepools firm, Blue Order are well renowned throughtout Europe. Two of its most active members are its leader, Ewan Craig and Josh Wright. On December 2004, Ewan killed a man in an argument, over whos turn it was to go down the slide. He called his old friend Josh, whom he first met in The Early Learning Center, and moved to Hartlepool at the invitation of Josh. Ewan became Josho’s right hand man, helping him run the firm and was bartender at his club. He got rid of the unwanted, and 'drunkards’. He was also involved in illegal gambling, bootlegging (illegal alcohol), and prostitution. When prohibition started in 2006, Ewan ran the underground drinking establishments for Josh, after he had Ewan kill off the Hartlepool boss named Colosimo. Josh then became the Josh was seriously wounded in an incident involving a four year old, he stepped down from the head of the mob in 2007 and Ewan became the head of the Blue Order. Through his reign in Hartlepool Al had the congressmen, mayors, legislators, governors, city aldermen, and much of Chicago police force on his payroll. Blue Order are well known for robbery to keep up their bank accounts. In 2007 Josh and Ewan were robbing a convenience store. While waiting for Josh to finish getting the money, Ewan noticed a contest entry form. Thinking it would be cool to win, he filled out the form, complete with his name, address, and phone number. A few hours later the police were at their house to arrest them. After a narrow escape from the police, but having lost their money they decided to rob a drug store after announcing their intentions to commit robbery, the pair pulled a Hefty Bags over faces to conceal their identity. They did not, however, cut eyeholes in the masks and were tackled by a brave customer. The two were aressted and were deemed to be 'mentally challenged' and were so rehablitated in Homebase. After a short stay Josh and Ewan were allowed to leave the comfort of their padded cells to join the normal students of High Tuntsall. However serious concerns have been raised about their level of emotional maturity as Ewan Craig can be seen to still dribble on himself.

Red Letter Days
Red Letter Days is an "experiences" organisation established in 1989, offering customers the ability to purchase experiences, as opposed to tangible objects, as gifts for others. It essentially sells others' services (e.g. those of a fitness centre) under its own brand, offering a single and consistent purchasing outlet for experiences.
In the summer of 2005, Jones teamed up with another Dragons' Den star, Theo Paphitis, to buy the gift experience company Red Letter Days from fellow panellist Rachel Elnaugh. The company, which collapsed under Elnaugh's ownership, has been turned around and is now trading profitably again.
