Camberwell links

Hi Paul

OK - I do appreciate your comments and they way they were made. My prime motive for visiting the page was to remove the Knowhere guide link as this can probably be called spam by most. However while there I looked at the other links in view of WP:EL. Bus route stuff (& similar transport issues) to me really are directory things that I understand are not encyclopedic. Rightly or wrongly (& I really am happy to have a dialogue about this) I have tended to consider academic entries ok and corporate ones definitely not. The others - ok I'll be awkward - what do you think is reasonable (in view of WP:EL)? The language class does look questionable - I was working through a batch at the time - but I will take no action at all until I hear from you & I certainly will not fall out with anyone I'm having a discussion with! Hi Paul

Thanks for the feedback. We can happily agree the language one goes I think. I'll look through the pages that you have mentioned (so I will/have removed links on but get back to me if you don't feel it's appropriate). All in all I would rather read them properly than comment too much now. However another editor raised concerns about external links being removed and there is a thread here Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Spam#External links on town pages that you may wish to look at as well - it certainly filled in some gaps in my understanding.

It really is a thorny one - some days I look at it and think - all links can go! However there is a role for worthwhile relevant links in Wiki - the problem is getting agreement on what they are. For me I'm happy with Camberwell as it stand now but if you see it differently feel free to let me know (or if you find you want an opinion on something similar in the course of your travels). Dissociations

Paul,

I recently noticed there is no Wikipedia entry for "Double Dissociation", but I did find the Dissociation (neuropsychology) page. I noticed in its history that you had tagged the article as a stub. I've just posted a comment on the Talk page there about a brief sketch of how I propose to expand it. However, I'm also concerned whether the article would be appropriately titled after I do so. Double dissociation is an important topic in neuropsychology, but it is really more of an experimental design topic that applies generally to the experimental sciences.

I think I can do a decent job adding content to the page, and I don't think the page is terribly useful in its current stub form, but I would like advice both after I've made my edits and more importantly about the categorization issue (is this a neuropsychology topic or a more general topic). I plan to watch the page (and its Talk page) for a week or so and then make edits. If you have a chance to "watch my back" I'd appreciate it.

Incidentally, I am a physiological psychologist.

conversion disorder

Hi Paul- I will try and get round to doing the citations for this. Alongside my clotting problems I have just been provisionally diagnosed with POTS :-( but since tests have shown other autonomic dysfunction the initial "what @rseholes the 2 neurologists I intially saw are" is starting to wear off- quite worried. I have also ended up collating research on clotting disorders for the Nightingale Foundation. Ironically in other people's work my skill seems to be cross referencing citations and just generally finding relevant papers. for example 66% of clotting disorders have an undetermined hereditary cause- the NHS only tests for the remaining 34% if that. I also have a website: www.conversiondisorder.co.uk to work on. So I will really try and do the citations.

Hello Paul. I wasn't sure how to contact you so I'm trying this and I apologize if I missed an easier way. The reason I'm writing you is that I have some questions concerning Parkinson's Disease that are not addressed in the wikipedia article. Currently (and for the last year), I spend 50+ hours a week providing home care to a gentleman who has early onset Parkinson's as well as a brain injury acquired at birth. At 31 he was diagnosed with Parkinson's and now he's 45 and the disease has progressed pretty much as expected, however I am having trouble understanding what symptoms that he presents stem from the Parkinson's or from his brain injury or from the medication he takes. I have numerous questions that probably wouldn't take up much of your time and I'd appreciate corresponding with you. If you have the time, please let me know at shane_gomez@hotmail.com P.S: what I am doing here is purely for my own interest and is without consent (or knowledge) of the family of the gentleman that I care for, as per the confidentiality interests of my client and company. In other words, I'm not coming to you to burden you with any questions about 'cures' or anything like that. I merely wish to share what I have observed about the disease and discuss a few of the unorthodox treatments that my client insists upon that I have questions and concerns about.

Thank you Paul. As you know Simon and I don't think emotions can be "converted" into physical symptoms such as paralysis. Simon knows more about this than me. In my experience (of the Maudsley at least) most psychiatrists don't listen to patients and are very rude and arrogant. So it is not surprising that lots of people get misdiagnosed. Then it take a Byron Hyde and some senior politicians to sort the situation out as they did for Simon. Many consultants need a kick up the arse by their bosses to get them to even think. Byron says many doctors are liars as they don't want to be sued.
