thank you

sheesh, that one was persistent. Thanks! --MPerel 22:19, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

And now insists on being unblocked. I'm formulating an appropriate answer. Acroterion (talk) 22:20, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Blofeld

Or "elimination" rather. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 02:18, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Liquidation is my preferred term. Acroterion (talk) 02:20, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just like that !! Plainfaing IN a few days we'll have france nailed and they can begin development. Very few will congratulate us!! ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 03:22, 24 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I see ominous signs that you're moving on to China - or Armenia. I'll stick to expanding France - I was thinking of doing all the places I've been/passed through. Acroterion (talk) 03:27, 24 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Acroterion. You have new messages at Chetblong's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

A sincere question

Why do you say I was vandalizing ClueBot's page? What I really was doing is just only leaving him a serious message which I expected a soon response as I do with this message I am leaving you. As you can see, I'm an unconventional vandal as I will never use profanities in my messages; I will never sink my level to that of a common Wikipedian you know.

Thank you.

Thanks for reverting on my talk. Oh, and that traffic light is terrible... wow. · AndonicO Hail! 02:37, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I ran across it on a cycling blog, of all things - properly credited to Commons! Acroterion (talk) 03:09, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Block of 12.26.69.6

On Feb 13, you stated on 12.26.69.6's page that the next time vandalism occurred to Circuit City, you would block the ip. IP vandalised Circuit City again today. Also, other pages have been vandalised. Just thought I would let you know. Also, the IP is owned by Circuit City and appears to be coming from their store in San Bernadino, CA and looking at the history, it appears its the same individual doing the edits the entire time.--Finalnight (talk) 04:40, 24 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There's a disturbing fascination for The Golden Girls there too. I believe I'll leave a note on the page to the effect of We Know Where You Are Editing. 04:44, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
I was going to file an IP abuse report with Wikipedia since I used to work for CC and know how much they hate store associates screwing around on company intranet. Think that is warranted at this point?--Finalnight (talk) 04:50, 24 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I was on the point of quitting for the evening there, but I'm back for a little while. I wasn't inclined to block at that time, since there was no current vandalism and the store was closed. I was going to see if we can scare them ourselves - I dislike causing Real Life trouble for people and would rather just modify their behavior, assuming they see the warning. I doubt CC would object to a long block, which would take care of things too, and will be the next option if anything else happens. Acroterion (talk) 12:37, 24 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Cool, I will go with whatever you feel is appropriate.--Finalnight (talk) 17:26, 24 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Vandalism after the last warning has earned a month off. Acroterion (talk) 18:54, 24 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dang

How did you notice my insertion of misinformation so quickly? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.0.39.170 (talk) 03:24, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Several bots look for suspect contributions and present them to recent changes patrolers. Besides, school articles are magnets for vandalism. Go and sin no more. Acroterion (talk) 03:32, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

209.23.168.205

This is a dynamic IP used by many dial-up users, it is not a static IP address. I did not make said edits but rather, somebody who had used the IP address before me did. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.23.168.205 (talk) 22:12, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You're right - that's what happens with dynamic IP's, you will see warnings for other people who abused that address. That's why it says at the bottom " If this is a shared IP address, and you didn't make any unconstructive edits, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant warnings." The warning wasn't aimed at you, just at the person who was using the IP at the time. Acroterion (talk) 23:21, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

12.26.69.6

A whois search reveals this IP to be circuit city. It looks like it may be wise to block the entire range to make sure that this person doesn't vandalize. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.23.168.205 (talk) 22:18, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rangeblocks are reserved for intractable IP-hopping vandals when all else has failed. Blocking that particular IP should be enough. Acroterion (talk) 02:59, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Thanks for reverting the vandalism on my user page. =) -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 23:44, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome. It was clear that it was a sock: others figured out who it was. Acroterion (talk) 00:07, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I recognize the sockpuppet. I've been dealing with him for months now. It is only recently that he has moved to creating accounts. It's getting rather old. Oh well. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 00:24, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Follow up on IP vandal

I discovered an block you had done a month ago.[1] It was for only 24 hours, but appears to have stopped the damage. Bearian (talk) 21:19, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good to know the block worked, although the cynical answer would be that he found another IP and article set to abuse. I usually keep blocked IP's on a watchlist for a while just in case and purge it when it becomes too unwieldy. Acroterion (talk) 21:25, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Huge Image

Why is the image inappropriate? Surely it is my talk page, and I can do what I want with it (within reason of course) Asian Parents, Western Upbringing (talk) 01:24, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Righto. Asian Parents, Western Upbringing (talk) 01:25, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Since a couple of "prod" tags were placed on this article that I wrote, I've replaced them with an afd template so this can go to a vote. Out of courtesy I would like to inform the users who placed the prod tags on the article initially. Is there a set piece of writing I should use to do this? Asian Parents, Western Upbringing (talk) 01:37, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A note to those who appear to be interested would be fine. I think there are only a couple of editors involved. Acroterion (talk) 01:39, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Victor64

I just left a message on his talk page that I would be pleased to unblock him and offered to find him a mentor, should he choose to come back. I do require that he apologize and pledge not to misbehave again. My sincere hope is that he'll take me up on both parts (unblock and mentorship). On a separate matter, please accept my thanks for your very kind words on my behalf. I'm honored to have your respect and hope to continue to live up to it. - Philippe | Talk 04:45, 29 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm glad we are of the same opinion on the proper action. I decided to step in when the talk became a bit too strident for my taste. You're certainly not BITEy, in my experience. Acroterion (talk) 04:52, 29 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I certainly try not to be. Frankly, I respect the interceding user; they did a fantastic job of presenting their case, if a little more strident that I would have preferred. I honestly hope that there's a chance to turn this one into win/win. If that's the case, a good deal of the credit for that should go to you for stepping in to de-escalate the situation. Truly, and honestly, well done. - Philippe | Talk 04:54, 29 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

SORRY!

I'm sorry! I won't do it again! An older boy told me to do it!

... and that older boy was Ernest Borgnine!

Since you're apparently in college, that might be right. Stop anyway. Acroterion (talk) 18:40, 29 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for reverting my user page. =) -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 21:06, 29 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Atrocity

That is most unfair! You have articles on Wookieepedia and other wikis so why not the Oompa Loompa wiki!? I know the page was not stupendous but I was going to work on it for a few days. Please please please please undelete that is really really unfair I spent ages extracting that logo and writing the text properly. I'm not a native speaker of English and that took me ages to get right. I will assume good faith but I think this is a blatant misuse of power. Please undelete kind sir! Johnboy7767 (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 23:54, 29 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wookieepedia is notable and yours is not: indeed, it would be astounding if it was, since it's less than 24 hours old. And, I would submit, there is little potential wiki-interest concerning Oompa-Loompas. By the way, the image is a probable copyright violation, apart from its questionable level of taste. Good luck with Paramount. Acroterion (talk) 00:06, 1 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It is not "mine," I was simply fulfilling a promise to a friend who is somewhat...let's say wiki-handicapped. I am no affiliation to the Oompa Loompa wiki and am entirely unbiased. However, in the fruitfulness of your comments, I respond. There is much to say about Oompa Loompas (without the dash, jeez) as they are an integral part of modern culture. My friend says they think they have will over one hundred users by Monday and lots of cash. About the image, I only fulfil request so please wish my friend luck with Paramount. Anyway, the image is not copy written as my friend made it himself; that is his brother bending over. I assume it is okay for me to recreate article? Johnboy7767 (talk) 00:12, 1 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No. The issue is WP:NOTABILITY. If in time your friend's site is notable, I am sure he'll be able to produce newspaper and Web journalism articles to prove it. Until then, it does not meet our requirements for inclusion. Acroterion (talk) 00:17, 1 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I still think that that is reasoning unfair and unjust towards I hard work. You have abusen thy power without first consulting the Wikipedia community. What if I reacreate the page and the community vote on deleteion? After say...three months if more delete than keep (HA! unlikely) then article can be redeleted. I will do that with your fruitful go ahead. Johnboy7767 (talk)
Also, I searched in Google and found nobility: http://oompaloompasrus.weebly.com/news.html. Thank you very much for understanding. Now I recreate page with nobility. Johnboy7767 (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 00:29, 1 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
