According to Pitchfork Media, Kissing the Beehive is the name for the second full-length album by Canadian indie rock band Wolf Parade, which is a literary reference to Jonathan Carroll's novel of the same title.[1] It had been reported earlier by Blender Magazine that record was entitled Pardon My Blues;[2] however, the name of the album on Sub Pop Records' website is Wolf Parade LP2 as the generic title.[3] Like before, the album title is still under speculation and neither Pardon My Blues nor Kissing The Beehive will be the title of the second Wolf Parade album.
According to singer Dan Boeckner, the recording of the album has been completed and it is currently being mixed at Arlen Thompson's sound studio Mt. Zoomer, and the album has an expected release date of either March or April, 2008.[4] Half of the album was recorded at Arcade Fire's Petite Église in Farnham, Quebec - an old church that was converted to a recording studio for the production of Neon Bible.[4] After touring the east coast in late 2007, Wolf Parade recorded the rest of the album at MIXart Studios in Montreal, Canada.[4]
It was also reported that the cover art for the new album will feature the work Matt Moroz and Elizabeth Huey, and it will depict and battle scene between the two artists.[5]
What has been confirmed by Sub Pop is the release date (June 17, 2008), as well as the official track listing, which features nine new tracks.[3]
