Known as "Knute", Tom was the first player in Dallas Cowboy history to carry the football during a regular season game as he returned the opening kickoff in their inagural regular season game.

Knute played his high school football at Catholic Central High in Steubenville, Ohio just a few years before his first cousin, Danny Ambramowicz. Ambramowicz played his college football at Xavier University in Cincinnati and professionally as an orginal New Orleans Saint and ended his career with the 49ers.

Tom passed away in April of 1997.

Thomas Anthony Franckhauser (born May 26, 1937 in Steubenville, Ohio) was an American football cornerback in the National Football League for the Los Angeles Rams, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Minnesota Vikings. He played college football at Purdue University.

Known as "Knute", Tom was the first player in Dallas Cowboy history to carry the football during a regular season game as he returned the opening kickoff in their inagural regular season game.
