St. Jude Catholic Church is Roman Catholic Church of the Diocese of Dallas. It is located in Allen, Texas. The first Catholic church in the city of Allen, it was established as a parish in the Diocese of Dallas in 1981.[1] This parish was created with 50 founding members, including organizer Don Rodenbaugh.[2] A new sanctuary was opened in 2005.[3]

Community outreach

  • The church operates a youth ministry that has been active in anti-drug educational endeavors.[4]
  • Plans are underway to build a grade school by 2010.[5]

Honduras mission

In 2002, St. Jude Catholic Church adopted two sister parishes in Honduras, St. Rita in Sava and St. Stephen in Rio Estaben. The parishes in Honduras were devastated after Hurricane Mitch in 1998 The support of the parish spurred the creation of the album Build the House by Michael Howard.[6].

Knights of Columbus Council 11293

In 2008 St. Jude Council of the Knights of Columbus had a net new growth of 104 members and earning them the Century Club Award for Membership.[7] This marks the first time since 1994 that a State of Texas Council has earned this prestigious award. In 2007, Only 3 KOC councils in the United States of America achieved this mark.

Personnel

In 1999, Father Tim Church was assigned to St. Jude Catholic Church by the bishop of Dallas. An ex-Episcopal priest that converted to Catholicism, Father Church was the third married ex-Episcopal priest to be assigned this parish.[citation needed]
